Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/09/25) */
In response to this complaint, I would like to state the true facts.
We are a Salon and Spa - in our facility, we have a private room for massages and facials, a private room for manicures and pedicures along with hair service...

stations. Our staff consists of hairstylists, nail technician and aesthetician.
We are open for business five days a week. Three of those days are from 9 am to 8 pm. An appointment for 3 1/2 hours would not have been a problem, depending on the availability of the service providers' schedules and also meeting the client's availability.
Serving complimentary wine became an issue when clients wanted to overindulge. To alleviate any future problems, I decided to cancel my license with the Village and insurance and stopped serving wine.
The conversation became heated on her end when she refused to listen to me trying to tell her I would work something out for her. She just wanted a cash refund on the gift certificate, which I told her gift certificates are not redeemable for cash. She hung up on me.
Having said this, I would be willing to make an arrangement with Hand and Stone Massage so she can receive her massage. This establishment is in the same shopping center (Quentin Collection) where we are located. She can then use the balance of the certificate with us, for her facial, pedicure or cut and style.
We have been in business for 30 years and our goal is to accommodate, not alleviate.

Re: Case [redacted]
Within the business community, it is understood...

by consumers when gift certificates are purchased they are not redeemable for cash. This is true within our business also. It is only sold on a monetary value and not specific service or product.
In reference to this complaint, this gift certificate was purchased through the Internet. No direct personal contact with the Salon. I believe it would have been diligent for the purchaser to call the Salon directly prior to purchase and make sure we have a service provider (massage therapist) on staff and they would have been told we do not have a therapist at this time. The massage therapist that was employed at Antonucci Salon left to do in-home therapy. On our website there is a section in there under "career opportunity" where I am always looking for additional staff members including massage therapist.
At the end of August 2014, I received a phone call from the wife. I apologized during this phone conversation for not having been able to find a qualified therapist at this time and offered any of the other services or retail products that we provide. She would not even consider it. The main goal was to get a cash refund.
My impression was she was not happy with the gift her husband had purchased for her and just wanted the money. My skepticism is, if this was purchased primarily for a massage, there are many primary massage businesses in the area including one that is in the same shopping center we are located in.
I find it quite reprehensible that they filed a complaint with the Revdex.com since we have been in business for 30 years with no complaints and have worked very hard to have an honest and forthright reputation in our community. Additionally, what motivation would I have had to laugh or be rude to her when she was a new, potentially long lasting client? This allegation is a complete falsehood. The rudeness is that they have posted derogatory statements about me and our business on social media after she was told there are no cash refunds on gift certificates.
I am confident that after you review the true facts I have stated in this letter, Antonucci Salon And Spa will have a favorable outcome.
Thank you for your consideration to this matter.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 9, 2014/09/08) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Bottom line, they have massages advertised on their website, and do not honor it. If they do not have massages on the menu, they should not advertise it. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!! not too mention she laughed in my wife's face, totally unprofessional. This is the worst company ever, they should also get a negative rating from the Revdex.com for this. I am a 100% total and permanent disabled veteran, a member of the Lake Zurich VFW and American Legion and to be treated like this, I will make sure everyone knows how they treat their customers.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 11, 2014/09/21) */
In response to Mr. [redacted] statement, I would like it to be known that I have the highest respect for our military, having come from a military family. That having been said, our policy regarding gift certificates, as I stated previously, we do not redeem them for cash.
I do acknowledge that the husband had good intentions by giving his wife a gift certificate. Unfortunately, I have not at this time, been able to add a qualified massage therapist to our staff.
Since my understanding is his wife receiving a massage service is the "priority," I would be willing to make an arrangement with Hand and Stone Massage, located in Kildeer so that she would be able to receive the gift her husband had intended.
