Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted] , and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because: The physician has lied multiple times in his response. The first lie is regarding the insuranceFirstly, his front desk personnel adamantly declined taking my insurance as payment for the consult, stating insurances don't provide any coverage for consult visitsThis was at the very onset, as I filled out the forms even before the service was rendered As we concluded the visit and he referred me to a lab for a test, I advised him that my coverage is in my marital name, so he should expect that test results will indicate it as such and he acknowledged thatI then proceeded to return to the front desk to finalize the visitBeing pretty sure that it was highly unlikely that the insurance would not cover the visit, I asked the receptionist again if she would process a claim for submission but she insisted on not doing so because as she had previously informed me, it was not a covered procedureI also asked if she would give me a code for the visit, so I could cross check with my insurance carrier, she said there was nothing to give meAt that point, I just paid with my credit card and left.At no point during that visit, was any request made for identification regarding my insurance coverage, I voluntarily indicated to him to expect my marital name on the test, so why would I have put up a fight if I was asked to provide a form of identificationI am who I am, I have the necessary identificationThis is America, some women simply exercise the use of their maiden name or marital name if they pleaseWhy that is a bone of contention for him just is bizarre! I went to inquire about a service from him and that was all, NOT for him to judge my preference!Notice his justification for a $HIKE in price in a 4day period is that, he had to check hospital ratesHow UNPROFESSIONAL is that???? If he is a plastic surgeon that's worth his salt, and has been doing this long enough and according to him, performed the same procedure in the same hospital just recently, he need not have to cross check the fees, he actually knew the fees and that was what he gave to me at the end of the consult visitHe should not have given me a number that he could not stand behind, he could have very easily asked to call me back with his price at a later date or even after the test result was obtainedClearly, as I reiterate, he had to find a way to recoup whatever processing charge he would incur from my use of a credit card as paymentHe could have simply told me that there's a fee surcharge for credit use, but I'm sure that that would not have come any where close to a $price tag hike in days either. He claims he gave me his cellphone number to call liberally as I please, ok, what is the use of a number when all I get is the distinguished pleasure of leaving unanswered voicemailsHe forgets that there are text messages to corroborate my having to reach out to him again and again for feedback following the unanswered voicemailsHe also said he interpreted my test result and gave a feedback, well news flash, his ONLY response as giving me a feedback on the test result, came in the form of a text message and this is a HIPPA violation!!! He should know that, but he simplly DOES NOT CARE! It is a violation to relay such sensitive and protected information by UNSECURED METHODS, and that partly shows the extent of his DISREGARD He states he came highly recommended, but online on separate web sites, he was reviewed as " [redacted] " [redacted] A review on [redacted] from 122009, his ONLY REVIEW on this website by the way, described a botched surgery he performed and the patient STATED that "his response to my uneven droopy eyebrows, was that “ [redacted] ***.” He did not even consider making any adjustmentsMy forehead didn’t even look that bad to begin withI really wanted to try Botox for a chemical brow lift, and my doctor knew this." Clearly, this guy's regard for doing the right thing just doesn't seem to be there. So, I disagree that he came highly recommendedI only went because I decided that due to the fact that the procedure I am seeking and the procedure that he had botched were not the same, then I would at least meet with him and go on from thereI can truly understand why this $charge means the world to him, you can tooYou just need to visit the office he practices out ofHe surely desperately needs every $ he can swindle out of peopleIf he's a successful practitioner that he thinks he is, in his head at least, then his office should reflect it, it is appalling what it is he calls an office, and for the kind of profession he is in, as well as the services he supposedly rendersThat also explains why he can inexplicably, unconscionably and with unsubstantiated claims, change an amount in 4days without feeling any shame.Lastly, I will clarify that contrary to yet another lie of his, I did not choose January for my surgery, I reiterate that I wanted early on in December, within the first week, but when he said he would not be available for postop care in the last 2weeks of December, yes I agreed to settle for sometime in January, which he encouraged would be better off overall because it is a low season for surgical procedures hence the rates drop even furtherThat was why I reached out to him again on before he became unavailable in the second week, in order to finalize things for hopefully the earliest date available in January as well as get an update on the rates because this was also still in limbo, but lo and behold he told me it had to NOW be after the [redacted] of FebruaryIt then became quite apparent to me that this was worse than chasing a mirage because it just seems to be moving farther and farther awayI'm certain that had I not called, I would have found out at the last minute!!! I then asked myself what made this arrogant guy worthy my time and mney, there's nothing exclusive or talented about him to make me have to allow him the liberty to keep doing this.I thank God that things didn't proceed to the point of me ending up with a botched surgery as at least those aforementioned patients of his didWho knows how many more undocumented botched cases of his are out there! He actually admitted to another one when I asked him about any prior other complications he had, particularly of the type I was seeking to have doneI was being realistic and optimistic, I assured myself that there are no perfect practitioners out there, so yes, complications will arise, but he just kept sinking lower and lowerThe final straw was when I had to inadvertently find out that he couldn't even perform the surgery latest in January as he had persuaded me to wait forThen a light bulb flashed again to show me it was all a lie after all and all along for that matter, because he had not even once given me preop instructions or requested me to obtain medical clearance and whatever else that would be required prior to surgery unless he was planning to go in blindly without regard to the possible consequencesThink about it, this was already the [redacted] of December, he would by unavailable from the 3rd week, so about the ***, just days away, I initiated the contact, not him, now he was advising me he would now be away the whole of January as well and I could have surgery anytime after the [redacted] of FebruarySo, when was he planning to ask for medical clearance, additional tests, receive the results, review them and ensure to give me instructions, assuming nothing wrong showed up in the test results? Review: Had a consultation for an elective procedure on 10/**/14, for which a price was quoted at the completion of the visit. He wanted to perform surgery the Wednesday before Thanksgiving but I declined because I would rather be with my family during that time, so he said he would check all the hospitals he works from and a date in December, latest January would be set. He said that doing it in January when surgical procedures are least performed & least expensive, would actually work in my favor. He informed me that I have to pay in full a few days to the date so I then made it known to him that I would be paying by credit card but he was quite displeased with that and really did not recover from that. He called me back just 4 days later to change the price to $3,500 higher than what he had just quoted 4 days earlier and I told him it was unfathomable how the price could have been escalated so fast, by so much. He agreed to check the fee but ever since, it's been extremely impossible to get him to relate well with me on any issue. I called him repeatedly for weeks, sometimes without a response before he would discuss the results of a test he had requested. He made a certain derogatory remark that was so inappropriate but I still kept focused on the project at hand. Now, knowing how uncertain things had been in the past, I called again on 12/**/14, not last minute, preparing for Jan. 2015, he informed me that he would be away in January, so I could only be seen after 02/**/15. I asked him if he was planning to tell me of this change, he responded in a dismissive manner, he still had till next week since at our last conversation, he had said we should try to make contact around mid December. At that point, I had to give up, evidently he is aware but just doesn't care enough to at least keep me apprised should I choose to explore other avenues. He just wanted to keep stringing me along so I would have no choice but to wait for him, regardless of the fact that my time was being wasted. I was just a feeDesired Settlement: Refund of the office visit charge of $100 I paid. 6 wks after the fact, I am needing to go back to square one despite fulfilling all that was required of me on my part.He has needlessly been neglectful of the services he consented to providing when a doctor-patient or a client-provider of service relationship was established. There's no explanation for why the charge jumped up by $3500 in a span of just 4 days or for why he suddenly has become unavailable till Feb. 2015 contrary to agreement

Response:

[redacted] was referred to me by a previous patient, her friend, who recommended me very highly. !. [redacted] received a detailed consultation with me for which she was charged $100.00, which is my standard fee. In addition, there were several conversations we had on my cell phone to help [redacted] reach a decision. I provided her with the courtesy of unrestricted access to me at all times by giving her my cell phone number. 2. Part of the decision process required a medical investigation which was also included in the initial consultation. It took special effort and extra time on my part to help [redacted] interpret the test results. 3. Upon ordering the test after the initial consultation we were surprised/shocked by the fact that [redacted] had medical insurance under a different name!!!! The initial consultation was for a cosmetic procedure and we did not ask for insurance information until the test needed to be ordered. 4. I hesitated charging [redacted] on her credit card because of her carrying duplicate identities. Upon asking her for identity verification - which is legally warranted, [redacted] became very irate. 5. The surgery [redacted] sought needed [redacted], and necessitated the use of a hospital. The final price for the surgery is subject to the hospital's fees for facility usage, anesthesia etc. I always give the patients a "ballpark" fee in my initial consultation subject to the hospital charges which do fluctuate. 6. After obtaining the best quotes from three different hospitals [redacted] was informed about the fees she would incur. [redacted]. decided to wait until early 2015 to see if the hospital reduced rates. No dates were finalized and no commitments were ever made as to the price and date for the surgery in 2015. 7. Personal reasons involving surgery of a near family member overseas needs me to be out of the United States in January. I happen to be a designated blood donor for the relative in question. In the interest of providing excellent medical care I try not to perform [redacted] when I know I will not be present for the post operative care. [redacted] has received more than the consultation that she paid for and no refunds will be made.
