I sought out the Revdex.com with the express intention of leaving a positive review someplace regarding a recent experience I had with the Anytime Fitness located off 59th Ave. and the 101 in Glendale.
When I first joined, it was with high expectations that plummeted through no fault of AT. It was simply not "my thing". I asked that my membership be cancelled in June of '15 and the owner, Natalie (who uses her personal phone as a business phone and is always responsive to clients), assured me that she would do so.
Fast forward to June of '16 and I wondered why the credit card, that I'd used to open my membership, had a balance that I just couldn't seem to work down. This is where I step in and take responsibility for my own shortcomings. I should have noticed this problem a year ago. Regardless, when a new card was issued from my cc company, they sent a "reminder" that I should make sure to move over my AT account to the new card.
The what? I hadn't been to the gym in over a year and had held a LENGTHY conversation with Natalie at that time. Needless to say, I was furious (mostly at myself) and contacted AT immediately. Natalie promptly answered (as is her business model), remembered me, apologized and assured me that she'd look into it. I received a response via email (as I'd requested) within an hour and the full balance of my year's membership was refunded within 3 business days. No muss, no fuss, no need to call back. No need to plead my case, apologize, call my credit bureau, look into litigation, etc. She simply refunded my money with a heartfelt apology and that was it. If only everything in life worked so smoothly!
While it may not seem like a big deal to most people, everyone has had at least one unpleasant experience like this with a business and it rarely turns out so well. I suppose I could complain about the fact that they forgot to cancel my account a year ago, but I also know that everyone makes mistakes. It's how a business handles the mistake that defines them and Natalie & Co. handled it with grace. It left me with an overall positive view of the company and, while not a business that I will frequent again for entirely personal reasons, I would still feel confident recommending it to friends and family because they show integrity in their business dealings.
