Anytime Fitness Pasadena Reviews (%countItem)

We were introduced to the gym and its memberships by a somewhat welcoming crew who failed to mention that our contract can't be canceled.
Me and a friend signed up and this location and were not told that the contract cannot be canceled after 10 days had passed. Our interview and sign up procedure was rushed from the minute we got there and we weren't informed of the contracts cancellation policy. The staff there had told us that they were on a time crunch and there were others waiting so we got right to it. Friendly faces and good attitudes for about an hour and we finally get up to leave. There was no one waiting on them and there was no rush. So being that they were all good to us in the meeting I wrote it off as the guy must have left.

I get into contact with *** and he tells me he can't cancel the membership because it was supposed to be canceled 10 days after. This was never mentioned to either of us in the sign up process.

Fast forward to 2020 and I'm being charged for a gym I can't use due to this pandemic, and the Regional Fitness Director, *** has been assuring me that I'd be refunded the total for the months that they charged me while the gym was closed (why they didn't freeze everyones accounts as soon as they were ordered to close is beyond me). Just this Tuesday 7/14/2020 I called *** and told her that I'd like her to continue where she left off (*** had simply stopped replying to my emails in may) and she assured me that she's send an email confirmation and issue the refunds for the months I was charged while the gym was closed. It is now Friday and I haven't heard anything back from *** and there is no email confirmation. I'm still here waiting for any word back and if the next bank statement is going to show my refunds or another charge that I can't get into contact with anyone to refund or stop.

Desired Outcome

A total refund for this membership as the contract was not clearly explained to us and the sign up process was rushed under the pretense that "other people were waiting." I've only used this gym once. I want my contract terminated and I want my money refunded. All of it.

From the beginning of this pandemic, Anytime Fitness has unfairly charged me for a month and failed to address my overall contractual concerns.
Following the closure of all non-essential business as of March 19, 2020, Anytime Fitness Pasadena still charged me for the month of April which does not seem right to me as they were not physically able to offer their full services. When I looked at the contract, it stated that someone could only be relieved of obligation of payment by "reason of death or disability" or if said person has moved 25 miles away or further from the gym. These are outlandish and unreasonable terms because it seems lazy and vague. When I emailed them telling asking for a refund, they stated that they would give a credited month to all members. They never gave the option to members who signed a year contract, like me, who may not want an extra month but the money instead. I told them that the pandemic had financially burdened me, because it has, as well as many other Americans and asked for a refund. Instead of answering my question, they just said they would "freeze" my account till July. This was unsatisfactory to me but I had to focus on school so I let it sit until I got closer to July. As May rolled around as the number of COVID-19 cases got worse, the more worried I got. I live at home with my parents who fall under the vulnerable category; one being 65 years of age and one being asthmatic. I emailed them early June asking to be released from my contract for the reason I stated in my pervious sentence, to which they declined and said I was contracted till March 2021. This is untrue as I signed a 12 month contract from December 2019 to December 2020. When I emailed Anytime the copy of my PDF contract, they apologized and said "we will take care of you!" Another time they dodged my initial inquiry. After the recent implementation of a second closure due to the surge of new cases from Memorial Day weekend, I decided that enough was enough and I sent them one last email on Monday, July 29, 2020 asking to be released from my contracted "immediately" because I no longer feel safe attending a gym. I checked my email yesterday and there was no response. Today, July 1, 2020, I checked my email again only to find an email from them stating a "temporary closure" due to a "gas leak" from the neighboring business. They did not respond to my email from 2 days ago but had the time to send this email today.

Desired Outcome

I am seeking a full refund for the month of April 2020 and to be immediately released from my 12 month contract that I signed December 2019.

I wanted to get back into working out and was looking around for gyms in my area. They had to work around my schedule because my days are always unpredictable. It was either anytime fitness or 24-hour fitness. I decided at any time because 24-hour fitness was rather crowded and dated. I received a 7 day free trial from manager Brad. Before I could receive my 7-day free trial I had to sign up first. This required my information and checking account number. My week was up and I enjoyed the gym for the most part. I decided to stay and sign up for 2 years upfront. I hate paying monthly dues and if you divide the two years into 24 months its a big saving. After about a week I noticed a $79 dollar charge on my checking account. I was told this shouldn't have happened and they would refund my money right away. It would take 5-10 business days to get back into my account. I'm about 7 days into that refund and ill post an update if it does ever go back into my account. I look at my credit card statement on March 2 and notice a $79 dollar charge on my card($160 total now). I call again and speak to Brad who assures me this shouldn't have happened and will call me back the next day. Going on two days and still haven't received any callback. Being a new gym I would think customer service is a top priority but its not. You're just another customer who they want to somehow screw over. Thinking of signing up? Constantly look at your statements if you do because anytime fitness Pasadena's motto is "this shouldn't have happened." I'm stuck for 2 years but you still have a chance to run. I would get the 24-hour fitness from Costco for a lot less and no hassle.

I have tried to reach the general manager for over a month regarding termination of my contract due to moving into a new county before they actually opened. I never picked up the key or anything! I've called spoke 2 different staff members..nothing happened. The manager is the only one with access to make any changes to billing and NEVER onsite. My sister and I should be able to cancel our membership due to living over 15 miles from the location which were indicated in the contract terms.

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment I would like the memberships cancelled and credited at least the December 2019 and January 2020 payments.

I contractually agreed to pay $39.99 per month. In addition, I agreed to pay for another member at $39.99. Thus, the total monthly draft should be $79.98. I have been a member since May 2019 but began billing since September 2019. Since then, they have drafted the recurring amount monthly. On January without permission, Anytime Fitness Pasadena drafted an additional premium of $79.98 for a total of $159.96. They currently are authorized to debit only $79.98 per month and not $159.96. I've reached out to the business on multiple occasions to remedy the issue; however, no one is providing any support or clarification regarding why they improperly debited twice for the month of January. After waiting for almost one week without any response both on the phone and via email, I am now seeking assistance from the Revdex.com.

Desired Outcome

Refund Not only do I wish to obtain a refund on the excess payment; I would like to place my recurring billing for $39.99 x 2 members on my credit card. They have breached my trust and should they be able to draft directly against my bank account without my consent, I fear they may do this again. At least with the credit card, I will be afforded some protection from situations like this.
