Review: My husband joined Anytime Fitness 8/2012, and I joined 10/2012. The attached our contracts as we are a married couple, which at the time was fine.We had signed up separately, [redacted] was not present when I signed up. I asked the sales person if there would be any issues for cancellation as [redacted] is active duty military. He said there would be no issues, we were to just provide the orders and the contract would be cancelled as long as there is no other club within 15 miles of the new location.
[redacted] received orders, I called the club to let them know we hard orders and were moving and needed to cancel. I was informed they needed 30 day notice, and we had to send in writing the request in writing to cancel, along with the orders through certified mail to Arkansas to get the membership cancelled . I was a little put off because that was not what was said when we signed up. I was told we just bring them the orders and it would be closed without penalty.
I send in the written request with a copy of the orders May 7, the request arrived May 9 as verified with USPS tracking. We received an email this morning from [redacted] to state the request was not processed. I was told by [redacted] with [redacted] that the request was denied as it did not come from [redacted]!! That was not EVER stated in the phone call that it had to be him. They have the orders that show we will ALL be moving. The legal ease in the contract also does not state the written request had to be from the primary member, it just says a written request is needed as well as proof of relocation. BOTH were provided. As the relocation is in direct result of military orders, on which I am named the contract should also not result in any additional fees. as the request falls under the Soldiers and Sailor's Act.Desired Settlement: I want this account closed as previously requested, without any additional headache or fines or fees. Along with an apology for the grief and frustration
