I would like to cancel the gym memberships for the two members below. One is for my son that is a minor:***,***.
When I contacted the gym they said that they will not process cancelations but will freeze my account. My contract with the gym was completed on December 2018 and after contract completion it became an open contract. The contract states:
OPEN END AGREEMENT CANCELLATION?
If you wish to request cancellation of this contract, & are currently in an open?
ended month to month agreement, you may request cancellation by *emailing or delivering written notice stating you?
would like to cancel. To complete your cancellation request, you will be responsible for paying any scheduled payments?
over the 30 day period following the submission date of your written cancellation request.
When I contacted the gym via email, I received a replay saying that they are not processing cancelations during this time and that both my accounts will be fronzen and then reopen when the COVID-19 situation is resolved. That will mean that I will have to pay a fee during the months that the gym is closed and then pay the monthly fee when the gym is re-open.
If the gym has the ability to freeze both my memberships, they should also have the ability to close my account. The contract does not have a clause that states that the gym can refuse to close an open term membership. I would like to request my contract is terminated on the date of my original request: April 2, 2020.
I am contacting Revdex.com because this seems to be a normal practice for this gym. I found siliar cases on internet review sites where the gym ignores and refuses to terminate gym memberships when members request them.

Just wanted to follow up to our conversation this morning. I just received confirmation from our billing company that your membership is pending cancel. As discussed, you will be responsible for one last payment that will be drafted in the next few days. Once that is drafted you will have access to the gym for 30 more days, however, since we are temporarily closed, we will give you and your son access to the gym for 30 days after we re-open. We don’t have an exact date of when this will happen, but it will be during Phase 2 of the state reopening around June 12-15. We will be sending updates via email and social media sites listed below.

I signed up for a membership with the Anytime Fitness gym under the pretense that I would only be using for the summer. The owner repeatedly told me that I would be able to cancel the membership in the fall when I was going back to school. However the business now refuses to let me cancel my membership.
