On October 2, 2019 I attempted to cancel my membership with Anytime Fitness Lombard North. Due to a physical disability that started in August 2018, I was unable to perform any activity as strictly directed by my Physical Therapist and then Chiropractor. I explained all this to the manager Evelyn ***. I was told I couldn't cancel, only freeze, and then cancel the membership come term end in February 2020. Now I've been told that I still can't cancel and that my membership has actually been extended due to the freeze. It was brought up that a doctor's note needed to be provided and 30 day written notice to cancel. I asked why this option wasn't presented in October 2019? It was conveniently never mentioned so they could continue to bill me, and I pointed out that that was unethical and a blatant misuse of power. After several emails back and forth with the manager, I was told to take things up with the Regional Director - Nicole ***. I emailed Nicole on 2/14/2020 and as of 2/21/2020 I still have yet to get a reply. I took it upon myself to track down a cancellation form, since both parties neglected to provide it. I sent the doctor's note needed on 2/14/2020 and followed up with the cancel form on 2/19/2020. Seeing as I could have provided all this information in October 2019, I feel that my membership should have been cancelled immediately. Had I known all this back then, I would have given everything they needed. They just wanted my money. Even now, I've provided the documentation and they're saying I still owe $116.00 and an additional 30 days notice. That is completely unnecessary, seeing as I gave my notice on October 2, 2019. That's over 120 days notice. In their last email with me, they threatened that I have to take their offer or leave it. The extreme lack of customer service and ethics that has been displayed by this branch is inexcusable. It's disgusting really. They can take their threats and BS "offers" to settle this matter right to the toilet. DO NOT JOIN ANYTIME FITNESS LOMBARD NORTH.
