I have enclosed a copy of ourcontract with Mr*** *** for your review When Mr*** first contacted us he stated he had an urgent tax matter regarding his current business with the State of Indiana. He was looking to get out of collections, file many years of outstanding tax returns, and negotiate an affordable installment agreement. Given how he described his situation, though serious, it appeared to be a typical case we handle in house without issue. We have helped many clients keep their business open and retain their property in similar situations. As always, we explain realistic resolution options to our potential clients based on the information they give us in theconsultation. We also explain we won't have a full understanding of the situation until we have power of attorney and are able to speak with the tax authorities about the current situation. In Mr. ***'s case we made it very clear we would not know what we were getting into until we contacted the Attorney General's office given how serious his outstanding tax situation is. Once we were contracted and had a signed power of attorney for Mr***'s current business, his case became our highest priority. We immediatelyfiled the power of attorney, contacted the Attorney General, and help prepare documentation regarding the client's current accounts receivable due by the endof the business day. When we spoke with the Attorney General we learned the client had been collecting but not paying sales tax for many years with multiple companies and an attorney would be required to handle the civil action already in place which was very likely to escalate to a criminal case. We spent considerable time speaking with various attorneys to find the best match to work with us on the client's case. We then provided the client with a couple options. Hoosier Tax Consulting has every intention to complete the work we were contracted to do. We can consult with the attorney throughout the civil case, and then take care of the outstanding tax matters when the civil/criminal case has been resolved.
