Apex Technical Multi Support Reviews (3)

Suddenly, yesterday, my computer froze up and I had all kinds of garbage showing. This is a new computer that I have barely used. A high-schooler from my church had helped to set it up for me, so I had no idea what websites he might have visited. Haven't used it much since then, but his Dad is a computer guru so I didn't think he would have done anything stupid to me. A number popped up telling me to call and the person who answered said it was "Microsoft." I was very leary because I was scammed like this once before, but he claimed to clean up my computer, and eventually sold me on a lifetime of service on all my devices for $600. He kept insisting he was with Microsoft. Then another person took control of my computer and I watched while he did very little. He would do one thing, let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes, then do something else. He assured me that my computer was great, and that I had lifetime support, and that someone would call today to see how my computer was running and confirm everything. When I asked how to make sure their service was working on my other laptop, they insisted that they had cleaned up and secured my network. I was still suspicious when they didn't answer my question and kept telling me how long it had taken them to ensure my computer was working properly. I could see that they were not working on it the whole time. This whole thing took many hours, but I was determined to keep an eye on what they were doing, because I really didn't trust what I was hearing from either of them. They sounded just like the jerks who scammed me before. I am a 77 year old handicapped senior who used to be good at computers, but the technology has surpassed me. Today a woman called me to supposedly confirm my happiness with my computer and verify my payment. I was very busy. Yesterday's nonsense had taken over half of my business day. I was exhausted and still way when she called. I had a repair person coming today for another appliance. I insisted this woman tell me the actual name of her company, and she finally rushed saying the name. obviously hoping I would not get it. I insisted that she and the men yesterday had totally lied to me...that they were not with Microsoft, and I made her spell her company name. I refused to talk with her anymore, hung up on her and she called me back twice. The review above has confirmed my suspicion that this is indeed a scam. I really wish Microsoft would have a well publicized number that customers could call to verify that they have indeed hired this, OR ANY, company to act as their technical support teams and represent themselves as being employees of Microsoft. It would go a long way to making me like Microsoft more and trusting them as a company.
