They verbally quoted a price, did exactly what he said he would do and charged me 800 dollars more. He also messed up other parts of my car.I brought my [redacted] to him around December 18th 2014.[redacted] told us it would cost 1200 dollars to change my clutch. He had my car for 3 weeks and when we went to go pick it up it cost is 1900$. Which is more than mini would have charged us. Also now almost a year later I'm still having problems and we just realized my radiation pipe is lose because they stripped the bolts. So not only did they charge us more they messed up my car and I have to pay for it.Desired SettlementAn apologize and a refund.Business Response Contact Name and Title:[redacted] PresidentContact Phone: (919)[redacted]Contact Email:[redacted]response to complaintIt is true we did quote $1200 for the clutch replacement. When the clutch was removed we discovered the flywheel was not in good shape. At that time we called her father who brought the car in for service and advised it needed a fly wheel which our cost at that time from dealer was $795.Which [redacted] her father finally approved to finish work. That was the difference in bill.As for other concerned this is the first time hearing this.Which is a year later. Also three weeks was because they were deciding on flywheel and I believe were trying to find there own.we also believe if radiator pipe was messed up as they claim you would think it would be leaking way before a year.

Complaint1. Unauthorized and un-needed repair service was performed2. Incorrect fluid was installed in the transmissionA [redacted] van was taken to Apex Transmission in Apex, NC. for diagnosis of leaking transmission fluid.** the front man assured us that Apex Transmission has worked on at least 500 [redacted]s in the past. The first problem is that ** went ahead and did work without informing us of the work to be done or the cost. He did the same work and replaced the same part that had already been done recently ( the transmission adapter plug housing). ** was informed that this work had already been done, but he went ahead and did it anyway. While this is a common repair, this repair does not fix the problem all the time. ** said that the job could only be done by dropping the transmission pan and draining and replacing the transmission fluid. Not true! This job has been done by many qualified mechanics without dropping the pan or replacing all the fluid. Some fluid will be lost, but a total drain is not necessary, as the pan is well below the part that was replaced. Was the transmission pan dropped, the part replaced, and new fluid put in? We only know that we were charged for the part and 5 quarts of transmission fluid. The second problem is that apparently the wrong transmission fluid was used.Every auto manufacturer has their own transmission fluid. Warranties will not be honored and use of the wrong fluid could damage the transmission.[redacted]s require a specific transmission fluid (MB spec 236.14). Any transmission fluid that does not meet the 236.14 spec is incorrect fluid. When asked what automatic transmission fluid was used, ** did not know, and was not willing to go into the shop and look. He says he gets the transmission fluid from a 260 gallon bulk tank. He wanted to give us the name of the salesman who sold him the fluid! Was the correct transmission fluid used? Probably not.Does Apex Transmission use the same fluid for every vehicle regardless of the manufacturer's specifications? If so, how many of Apex's customers are driving around with the wrong transmission fluid? When asked about a warranty for their work, ** said they don't warranty their work, only the part that cost them $9.In summary:1. Apex did work without authorization (work that did not need to be done).2. It appears that the wrong transmission fluid was used.3. We are seeking: a.refund the cost of the unauthorized workb. either install or pay for installation of the correct fluid.I tried to contact [redacted], the owner and General Manager or [redacted], the President of Apex Transmissions, but was informed by ** that I would have to keep calling back, as they only come in randomly.Desired Settlementa.refund the cost of the unauthorized work.b. either prove beyond a doubt that the correct automatic transmission fluid was installed, or install or pay for installation of the correct fluid.Business Response In regards to this complaintI have a signed work order authorizing work to be done.I also have specifications on fluid used( fluid meets o e m specifications)In regards to dropping transmission pan for work done. The reason you need too is because if you don't you will contaminate fluid with dirt and cleaning products.Thank you for your time Sincerely [redacted] (owner)Consumer Response I am satisfied that the transmission fluid used was correct for the vehicle. I see no reason to replace the fluid.I am unhappy with the attached document that shows I waived a written estimate, and that I authorized the work to be done for this reason: the list of work to be done and the parts used were entered on the document after I signed it. In order for Apex to look at the vehicle, I essentially had to sign a blank check that they filled in after the work was done.I specifically told Al that the electrical connector housing and o rings had already been done very recently. This is exactly what did not need to be done again, and is specifically what I told Al did not want done again. If Apex will issue a credit card refund for the un-needed and unauthorized labor and the cost of the parts, this issue can be put to bed.Final Business Response On behalf of Apex TransmissionThe customer told the manager He was sick of this problem and just fix the [redacted] thing (his words)He has never complained of the leak in his complaint so I am sure it fixed it.Further more he never brought truck back with a leak after it was fixed. We run an honest business if we replaced a part it needed it.I can't help if the prior person did this incorrectlyWe pride ourselfs on doing the right thing for our customersSincerely Apex Transmissions and Automotive Center
