Apex Wood Floors Reviews (%countItem)

Apex Wood Floors made a verbal commitment to return to my home after the buff & coat, but never returned to complete the job. Job is incomplete.
I called Apex Wood Floors after reading a positive review online. After a visit to my home, the owner quoted $1800 to complete the job. His mother fell ill, which interrupted his ability to do the work. With only a few days before my move, I agreed to an alternate plan. The owner said he and a friend of his would complete the job together to get it done faster. A job that he originally said would take 2 days took only 6 hours. I thought that was suspicious. The owner then told me that he would return to install a wood reducer, fill a couple holes that pre-existed in the floor, and correct a gap that existed between the a/c and hallway. He said that he and his friend were sanding and staining the wood floor reducer he promised to install. All I had to do was wait. I waited 2 weeks. Each time I called the owner, I got the runaround. "Let me call my partner." "Let me get back to you." I text with him today, October 9, and he made it clear that he was not returning. He continued to direct me to the generic contract, which states that reducers are an extra cost. He promised verbally to do the work. He outsourced the work to someone else who I did not approve, but he guaranteed. His employee did not fill the holes or do the other work the owner promised. I feel it is the owner's responsibility to guarantee the work of those he commissions. I paid in full the day I saw the job complete, which he completed in 6 hours, not 2 days. Unfortunatrly, the job was not complete, and I did not discover this because I could not walk on the floor for 48 hours after it was sealed. He got his money, and I got an incomplete job.

Desired Outcome

It is there responsibility to complete the following: Install the floor reducers, fill the holes and correct the gap between the a/c and hallway floors.

Apex Wood Floors Response • Oct 19, 2018

In response to this complaint I have tried contacting the client leaving voice mails and text messages and have had no response to discuss this matter. As per our contract as I have attached there is no agreement to install reducers. That was verbally discussed and I explained that is at a separate cost. In no way shape or form did I say it was part of our agreement. If it was I would have definitely included it in writing. We took measurements and I explained her tile floor was not perfectly level and that creating reducers at different heights is extremely difficult if not impossible. As per the filling of holes we spot filled throughout in significant areas needed but once again this was also a courtesy because as I explained verbally and is stated in line #5 in qualifications and exclusions section of our contract that with this process it does not include repairs nor filling. Also, the hole between the a/c and hallways was explained to her that it cannot be filled at all because the filler would just fall through. I am more than willing to discuss these matters and come to an honest and fair agreement but my reaching out to this client has been to no avail. If anyone has any questions please feel free to reach out to us. Thank You
