I have explained that their is not a corrosion or safety issue with paint failure, meaning time is on our sideIn all fairness to Aplands we should have the opportunity to view the bumper in person

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: I have spoken to two body shops here in the Boise Metro area, and both agree that it is a defect on the part of Apland'sThere is now a second portion of the fender that also has the clear coat coming offIf I was to wait until December, as instructed by Mike, it would likely cause more damage to my paint and vehicle due to the severe weather that occurs here in IdahoIf Apland's was willing to own up to their mistake and repair the damage, I would be much more likely to bring the car back to Oregon earlier to get the repair doneTo date, Apland's has only assigned the blame to me, rather than accepting that they could have had a faulty paint job.Sincerely,*** ***

Sorry for being late on this response. We have two locations, the letter was sent to our Grants Pass location. Repairs were done at our Medford location 2584 Bullock Rd Medford OR 97504Two sides to every story. [redacted] called with the complaint about paint failure on his bumper. I responded with an...

attempt to resolve the issue. I told [redacted] that if we could talk in a civil way we can come up with a resolution. He was not willing to talk in a civil way. I hung up, not [redacted]. Before the conversation ended he did say he would be coming to Medford in December. I suggested we look at it together at that time (it is not a safety or corrosion issue) It’s at that point [redacted] became angry. [redacted] did send me a picture of the paint issue. The paint delamination is in an isolated location on the front of the front bumper. He only sent me a close up of the paint issue, not an overall of the front of his vehicle. So I am unable to determine if the faint has failed on other panels. However [redacted] had no complaints about any other paint problems aside from the front bumper. According to the repair order Aplands replaced the front bumper cover and  the left fender and a repair on the hood. So Aplands painted two fenders, the hood and of course the front bumper. The paint problem complaint on the front bumper is suspect for two reasons. One if clear coat fails it takes a few years to have problems. This repair is less than 1 year. Clear coat failure usually has a fading or chalking effect before it fails completely. I’m assuming that the other panels have not started to fade out or chalk or peel, just the one spot on the bumper only. (Same paint at the same time as the other panels) Bumpers BUMP! They also flex. So if you hit something with your plastic bumper or someone bumps into your plastic bumper and doesn’t leave a note, things happen. I repair multiple bumpers for impact problems. Often times the bumper covers are fine because they return to their original shape, however the paint is not as flexible so it can crack or separate. Two [redacted] called a few months after the repair. He called and said he was at a Less Schwab location. He spoke to the manager Travis F[redacted]. He indicated that he went off the road and hit snow. He asked for advice on securing the bumper and the fender splash shield. It’s possible that the impact  with the snow could be the reason for the isolated bumper damage in question.Mike A[redacted]Apland's Auto Body2163 Spalding Ave.  Grants Pass, OR   (541) 244-14572584 Bullock Rd.  Medford, OR (541) 973-2214http://www.aplandsautobody.com/
