I am rejecting this response because of the following FACTS that can be provenThere is no verbal he said she said in this response:
When APM construction came to my home on September 29, to perform the work they did NOT remove any courses of brick whatsoever, that is an outright lieI have proof of this via pictures and other 3rd party witnessesThey were on my roof for less than minuteAll they did was remove the duct tape that I had covering the loose brick hole, see attached picture taken September 16, 10:28:AM, and look inside the chimneyThat is the EXACT same state the chimney was in when they came to quote the workI also have proof of this as wellIn fact, several pictures of the chimney including the attached were sent to APM via email on September 17, 6:PM, when I invited them to quote the repair.
Even a 3rd party contractor who referred me to APM, because the job was to complex for him, saw the same site conditionsThe referral is noted on the APM proposalLets be clear hereAPM under quoted the job from the beginning and the only way out for them was to double the agreed upon price or walk off the jobThey certainly had NO intention of honoring their contractIf they had done any demolition and then walked off the job then I would have filed legal action agains them for BREACH OF CONTRACTWarning, stay clear of APM because integrity and customer service in not in their vocabulary

To whom it may concern,During the original project our foreman was in pain due to an infection in his mouth and was taking pain medication to help alleviate the pain. We had replaced the walkway that was completed by the foreman and tried to get out to [redacted]'s home to rectify the...

issue with the steps. We tried to get to [redacted]'s home to rectify the steps and she did not want us to be at her home while she was out of town. Due to our schedule we were unable to rectify the issue with the steps in a timely manner, thus causing [redacted] to become disgruntled with APM.  APM apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused [redacted], but we tried to rectify the issue and she does not want APM to do any work at her home.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:The facts and documentation (texts, emails, phone records and voicemail from Craig) negate his statement.
Based on the facts and documentation here is the time line of events:- Thursday June 11th
APM came out to my home to replace the flagstone walkway and refinish to
steps. - Friday June 12th at 4:I sent pictures of
the steps and a note requesting Craig come out and see the work that was done
before the men continued as the job was not completed yet. He responded that "they will be there 8-9am Sunday"
I replied I would be out of town Saturday noon until Sunday 8pm and that I did not want them to come and continue such horrible work while I was away.Friday, June at 7:pm I again
requested Craig himself come see the job leaving him details of the poor
workmanship that left the flagstone walkway a tripping hazard. There was never a response
On Sunday June at 8:am I text Craig informing him my
plans had changed and I was home. I requested
he meet me that day or Monday morning to review the work that had been
done. At 9:am he text and asked if I
was home and I responded yes. I never
heard from him again until 5:pm when he gave me a number to call We spoke and he agreed that he would come out
with the men on Tuesday morning to rip out the flagstone walkway and do it over
again. He explained that the foreman
had a terrible toothache and was doped up on meds which caused the bad
work.
They returned Wednesday, June 17th and completed
the job. After the horrible mess they created the first time I was so
excited about the look of the flagstone after it was redone I did not take
notice how uneasy it felt walking up the refinished steps to the front
door. We don't use the front door too
often so we did not take notice that something was amiss. After about a week my mother tripped going up
them and I knew I had to revisit with APM.
I knew that getting APM to
address my concerns now that they were paid was going to be very difficult.
First I talked to someone in the business and he pointed out
that the reason the steps felt awkward is that the steps are all different
heights. There is a standard height
with standard height differences and none of these were followed. Then I started placing calls to the Upper
Darby Township License and Inspection department and I spoke with the
director. He proceeded to tell me the
guidelines and APM's work fell short of these guidelines leaving the steps a
tripping hazard.
On Thursday, June 25th I sent a long text
explaining the guidelines and the actual measurements to CraigOn June 26th
I also emailed this same information to apmmasonary@[redacted].com
No response
July 6th – called office number and left message
July 7th
asked Craig if I was ever going to hear
from him about the steps
No response
July 16th
Again asked how he was going to
resolve the issue of the steps
No response
July 30th,
informed Craig that I would be filing a complaint with the Attorney
General's Office about the steps
July 30, a;most immediately after my text ....Received a voicemail message which I still have...."I told you we would be out there to refinish
your steps (? When) We are extremely busy we are doing the best we can. We did not forget about you. Your name in on our board. We are doing everything we can to try to
make everyone happy. We are very behind Call me back at
the office. We have you scheduled for
next Thurs. Give us a call back if that's
an issue"
Called the office, no one
answered and no option to leave a message (mailbox full)
They never came back out. There was no more contact. I have been informed that when I want to sell my home the steps will have t be redone to meet code requirements. Here are the guidelines and the information about my steps with pictures "New steps in PA must have a max riser height of 8.25", and the greatest
riser height on a run must not exceed the smallest by more than 3/8"
You are correct that a minor repair or replacement in kind of such
concrete areas would not require a permit; however, the lack of a permit
requirement does not exempt them from performing the work as close as
technically feasible to current standards, and such failures to perform
work to this quality would be the jurisdiction of the State Attorney
General under the Home Improvement Contractor Registration ACT."THE WORK APM DID:The first step is 1/inches the second step is 1/inches. The steps from the walkway to the door very in height from from 1/to 3/

Craig P[redacted], owner of APM Masonry has spoken with [redacted] and will be resolving the chimney issue at hand on Tuesday & Wednesday August 12th & 13th.

To Whom It May Concern:I am writing in regards to a project we did for [redacted], Havertown, PA [redacted].Upon wrapping up this job, [redacted] brought to the owner Craig's attention that the cost of labor was too much and he did not want to pay. Before this job began, APM Masonry and [redacted] agreed and signed a contract stating that any additional labor necessary will cost an additional $1400.00 per day. [redacted] did not want to pay this and only voiced concern after the work had been completed. Craig attempted to negotiate with [redacted] but it was clear he did not want to pay any money. At that point, APM Masonry decided to not do any additional work for [redacted] at this property. If you need anything else please call me at the office and I would be happy to discuss these matters with you.  Brittany P[redacted]Office ManagerAPM Masonry & Construction
