Apostolic Publishing Company Reviews (14)

I received a statement from Apostolic Publishing on 5/6/19 referencing an invoice dated 3/27/19 which I had never received for advertising that I didn't know anything about. I emailed them and asked for more information and was emailed an invoice showing that the advertising was approved by Brad/Lance so I once again them to verify which person actually approved the advertising. I was then told by Christine that she would look into it. I later received an email from Mrs. Reeves stating that she had spoken with Brad and he approved it she then stated that she was waiting for Brad to send over our new logo for the add but he never did so she went ahead and ran it with our old logo. I asked Brad about this and Brad told me that he did receive a call from someone who told him that they were just call to update his information and he had no idea that it was for any kind of publication as he had just decided that he was going to be doing radio advertising for 2019 and not print advertising. I asked Mrs. Reeves if she could please send me the contract that Brad signed as we do not do any advertising without first approving the print and she told me that she did not have a signed contract because that is not how they do business. I continue to get statements and phone calls for payment on advertising that we did not approve. Now when they call the business name shows up as blocked on my caller ID. I am not paying for something I did not approve or want and I would like them to stop calling for payment.

We have removed *** from our system and they will not be getting anymore bills. Mrs. no longer is with our company but we made notes in the files to not contact this company for further advertising. We did talk to the new sales representative about this so they are aware as well.

Paula ***, a representative of Apostolic Publishing Co., Inc. contact my business several times to obtain authorization to place an advertisement in the Catholic Devotional. Since I was out of the office each time she called, my office manager told her she was not authorized to place an advertisement. After several attempts on her part to contact me, she stated that she would fax us information on the advertisement and I could call her if I chose to proceed. Since we never received any faxes or further phone calls, we assumed that was the end of things. Then on 12/26/18, we received an invoice that thanked us for renewing. On 12/26/18, I emailed Paula *** at: [email protected] to state we would not be paying for an advertisement I did not authorize. Since this was never authorized verbally over the phone, fax, email or in writing, there is not contract between our companies, and I consider this to be a fraudulent and unethical act.

After being contacted about this advertisement not being approved on 2/14/2019, we cancelled the invoices immediately. We talked to our employee about this issue, and stated the importance of talking to our customers and getting a verbal or written approval instead of assuming they were wanting to run an ad again. This company was running an ad with us for several years, and it is very unfortunate the circumstances.

We continue to receive invoices for advertising we did not buy for the Lutheran Prayerbook. The latest invoice had an "Authorized By: Employee Name" (name spelled incorrectly directly on the invoice. The employee DID NOT authorize any purchase of Advertising. We have called them and physically mailed them to have the stop sending invoices to our business, but they continue to send invoices. Very unethical to put authorized by someone at the business when in fact not one person authorized advertising, in fact when they called we directly told them we would not be advertising with them.

Apostolic Publishing Company Response • Jan 04, 2019

Hello,

We have removed their open invoice so they will not be receiving anymore invoices from our business.

Apostolic Publishing Company dba The Catholic Devotional and/or The Lutheran Journal have been asked to Cease and Desist contacting any O'Reilly Auto Parts Location to solicit advertising, via their website contact form 10/25/18. As of this morning, 11/27, they are still contacting us to sell ads.

Apostolic Publishing Company Response • Dec 10, 2018

We apologize for your inconvenience and thank you for contacting us about this matter. We have written notes in our files not to contact you, but our sales representatives are also calling directly out of the yellow pages in phone books which may be why you have received another call. We do not have your name on file to call, and will continue to work with our sales representatives to double check the companies they are calling.

We have been in business since 1970. We distribute our prayer books free to Churches in 47 states and how we are able to do that is by selling advertisement space. We contacted this business back in March of 2012. We were under the assumption...

that this was something they wanted to advertise. The customer contacted us in April and the advertisement was cancelled. They were not charged for it.
We will not contact this customer any longer. We are very sorry that one of our sales representatives was so aggressive in constantly contacting you and we have spoken to them. Our prayer books are very well received by Catholic Churches all across the United States and we feel this is a service to them.

We are now making 12 new books with her ads for the different areas and they will be mailed out to her on...

January 17, 2017. She indicated that once she receives these books, she will make payment.

As per an agreement with [redacted] from [redacted], we have agreed to refund the customer 1/2 the price of their advertisement. This will be mailed out on July 10, 2015 for the amount of $139. We have also flagged her file to...

indicate that we will not run another ad for her in the future. Our sincerest apologies.
