Review: In August of 2014, [redacted] and [redacted] aka "* the Tree Guy" of Appalachian Tree Service (aka Benefiel's Tree Service) came to my home and told us that the tree in my front yard was dead and that it was in our best interest to have it taken down. They said that they would take the tree down, remove the lumber and remove the stump for a total of $525. We knew that the tree was in bad shape so we took their business card for future reference. A few months later, we were ready to have the tree taken down so I gave Appalachian Tree Service/Benefiel's Tree Service a call back. [redacted] came a few days later and took down the tree. However, the stump was left but [redacted] and [redacted] insisted that I pay for the tree removal before any further work could be done. Also, they said they needed to reserve the proper equipment to remove the stump and that doing so would take a week or so. So, I paid them $450 on December 8, 2014, as they requested, and after two weeks, I called back to see when they would be removing the stump. [redacted] told me he would reserve the equipment and he would be at our home the next to remove the stump. He never came when he said he would so I followed up again and he never called me back. Since then, we've been stood up by Appalachian Tree Service/Benefiel's Tree Service twice, I have several calls to them that have gone unreturned and to date (March 9, 2015), Benefiel's Tree Service has failed to return to our property to finish the work they said they would do. I believe that we were scammed by dishonest door-to-door salesmen who posed as "arborists" that were only looking for quick money by taking advantage of homeowners. They do not want to put in the work to finish the difficult portion of the job we requested so they've completely ignored us instead of conducting customer service as any business should. I have given Appalachian Tree Service/Benefiel's Tree Service several chances to make this right and they have failed to do so I would like to report them to the Revdex.com and I would also like to have the stump removed promptly.Desired Settlement: I would like the job finished in my front yard that includes a full stump removal.
This is very unfortunate n allow me to help balance the sway. We gave you two separate proposals. One for the tree and a separate one for the stump once the tree was gone. We did very good work removing the tree n cleaning up. We were paid for the tree. We explained we don't regularly do stumps n if at the time we have enough stumps to warrant renting a grinder we could remove your stump for x. U were happy with the tree work n only paid us for the tree work. I'm sorry we couldn't gather enough stumps fast enough for your liking but we never had a signed contract to do the stump n never had you give us any money toward it. I'm sure you got someone who does stumps regularly to take care of that for you and probably for a cheaper quote than we gave u. So to refer to this situation as we owe u a stump grinding is far from the truth and although this was unfortunate, a quote and a contract are two different things n we explained all this to you before any work was done. You are not out anything n to make several reviews to different companies including the Revdex.com I feel was way out of line
