Appalachian Movers Reviews (7)

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below Appalachian statements; "We had placed each box and item in the room that it belonged and all items had been unloaded." Yes, they were in the correct rooms, but as I stated, there was no order and the boxes were scattered everywhereThe second half of the above statement is a total lieThe two wardrobe boxes which held 10' of closet pole space were jammed into 4' of wardrobe boxes with three-quarters of the clothing, not hanging, but just PACKED into the bottom of the boxesTHESE BOXES WERE NOT UNPACKED BY APPALACHIAN MOVERS, but it took me quite a while to unscramble the mess Everything Appalachian states about the [redacted] trailer is another lieI only wanted them to deal with their messI never asked them to do anything with these items, and I certainly did not deny any approval, as this was never discussed As I said in my complaint, I "threatened" Appalachian because all they did was show me they had no genuine concern to do the right thingThey had the responsibility to straighten out the boxes scattered everywhere and to unload the wardrobe boxes, but their key guy said, "once the stuff is off the truck, were done." I paid these jerks for three hours of time, they did hours, and refused to finish the jobI got the same $offer from Appalachian when I spoke to Tom, and it was far short of the half hour or so it would have taken his crew to do the things that every mover does All I know is thisThe leader of this crew turned out to be a real jerk and did not do his jobAppalachian failed to perform to industry standards and is offering a token with a bunch of liesI had better luck with the college kids I hired in our last moveThey were more professional than Appalachian movers

Appalachian statements;
"We had placed each box and item in the room that it belonged and all items had been unloaded."
Yes, they were in the correct rooms, but as I stated, there was no order and the boxes were scattered everywhere. The second half of the above statement is a total lie. The two wardrobe boxes which held 10' of closet pole space were jammed into 4' of wardrobe boxes with three-quarters of the clothing, not hanging, but just PACKED into the bottom of the boxes. THESE BOXES WERE NOT UNPACKED BY APPALACHIAN MOVERS, but it took me quite a while to unscramble the mess.
Everything Appalachian states about the [redacted] trailer is another lie. I only wanted them to deal with their mess. I never asked them to do anything with these items, and I certainly did not deny any approval, as this was never discussed.
As I said in my complaint, I "threatened" Appalachian because all they did was show me they had no genuine concern to do the right thing. They had the responsibility to straighten out the boxes scattered everywhere and to unload the wardrobe boxes, but their key guy said, "once the stuff is off the truck, were done." I paid these jerks for three hours of time, they did 1.5 hours, and refused to finish the job. I got the same $20 offer from Appalachian when I spoke to Tom, and it was far short of the half hour or so it would have taken his crew to do the things that every mover does.
All I know is this. The leader of this crew turned out to be a real jerk and did not do his job. Appalachian failed to perform to industry standards and is offering a token with a bunch of lies. I had better luck with the college kids I hired in our last move. They were more professional than Appalachian movers.

As an active-duty member, I move a lot -15 times in 16 years to be precise, so when I write about Tom and his company, please know I have some experience with moving. I moved from [redacted], PA to [redacted], FL, and this move ranks as the best move I’ve ever experienced.

From the start Tom and his wife were ABSOLUTELY professional as they walked my property, gauging how much stuff I had and estimating the move cost. By the time they left, I felt completely at ease with the move and cautiously excited that, for once, I’d move with no issues. They weren’t the least expensive company I interviewed, but that professionalism and poise was worth the additional cost.

Moving day started in force, and Tom and his wife were both assisting their team with the packing. Speaking with every member of their team, I was impressed how every one of them enjoyed working for the company. By the time the pack out was complete, I honestly felt I had close friends helping me move versus hiring a faceless moving company. Everything was packed and loaded with exceptional care and dedication -including a $2000 hand-blown crystal glasses and goblets from Egypt.

As with any small company, there are going to be problems to overcome, and this move was no exception. About a day before delivery, Tom called me personally and stated that the truck carrying the majority of my things had engine problems but was being repaired about 6 hours away. Tom offered 2 options for me: 1, they could rent a truck and transfer my things from one truck to the other. 2, Tom and his wife would personally deliver what was in the 2nd (smaller) truck, and they would deliver the remainder a few days later. I chose the 2nd.

While I (obviously) wanted all my things, but the thought of doing a full shift from 1 truck to another wasn’t appealing to me. Also, this additional cost (in addition to the engine repairs, etc) would cost Tom and his company. The company’s bottom line may not have been my concern, but that professionalism and relationship helped me make the decision. These are good people who were willing to work with me. I was more than happy to do the same.

When everything arrived, Tom hired local people to assist he and his wife in offloading my 4 tons of things. Just like at pack out, Tom’s crew wore booties and put down paper mats to limit dirt and scraping the wooden floor. They set up my bedroom, living room, and dining room. Best part was that NOTHING was missing, damaged, or even smudged!

Tom and his team worked hard to do it right the first time, and they succeeded. If I ever move back to Pennsylvania (or even the surrounding states), Tom will be my first call.

This is the second time I have used Appalachian Movers! I have been very satisfied with them both times. They were on-time, very professional and courteous! They took great care with all of our possessions, as if they were packing their own homes. I highly recommended this company!

Highly recommended. Very efficient and professional! Estimate was spot on, I would definitely use them again.

I recently used Appalacian Movers. They were very professional, courteous and fun to work with. They took great care of my furniture and were very efficient.
