Review: I was shown an apartment on 8/**/2013 by [redacted] and put a $700 deposit down on a room in the apartment located at [redacted] with partners [redacted] and [redacted] of Apple G Associates on 8/**/2013. $650 was for a security deposit and $50 was the application fee. It was explained by [redacted] that I would not have any chance of getting back any of the application fee of $50 but I could get my deposit back upon rejection of my application. This was understood on my part. I filled out the paper work and was waiting on an approval from the landlord. I never received a formal approval of my application.

I received a voicemail from [redacted] on 8/**/2013 while I was at work saying that I needed to find a cosigner and to call him back. When I did call back, he never picked up. I called the office and got a busy signal with no ability to leave a message. I texted [redacted] saying I would do my best to try and find a cosigner but was doubtful as I did not have one in mind. After a whole day of stress and searching I still had no cosigner. Both my parents declined the position. So I text messaged [redacted] my situation asking for a refund due to my lack of a cosigner. I heard nothing back. The next day I called the office and finally was able to reach someone to speak to. The receptionist I spoke with told me Apple G could not guarantee that I get my deposit back, but if I were to I would need to come collect it in person.

I went in person to the office on 8/**/13 and spoke with [redacted]. He told me I was approved for the apartment without a cosigner so I technically forfeited my eligibility for a refund. I was shocked since it was never made clear to me that this was the case. Again, I never received a formal approval or rejection letter or notification of any kind leaving my status to be assumed only. It was my understanding that I needed a cosigner to be approved and I did not have one, and the staff at Apple G Associates made no effort to clarify the reality of my situation to me and they were unaccessible for me to clarify my status on my own.

Today I called the office and spoke with [redacted] who told me that their "hands are tied" and they cannot give me a refund without proof of a formal rejection letter. This technicality was never stated to in the application/contract. The majority of communication was verbal, therefore I have only my word and a rejection letter in writing from my cosigner candidate to make my case. Regardless, I was taken advantage of with verbal agreements after being told I could receive a refund of at least part of my deposit if I was rejected, and as far as I knew I was neither officially approved or rejected legally with no attempt on Apple G's part to clarify my status.Desired Settlement: I would like at least $650 (subtracting my application fee) of my deposit refunded to me in full.

Review: I had applied for an apartment through Apple G and they refused to give me back my deposit of $1000 after I was denied for the apartment. They had told me they would mail it and a month and many phone calls later, they told me they would not give me my money back.Desired Settlement: Repayment of my security deposit - $1,000.
