I usually don’t write reviews, especially bad ones, but WOW.

My family and I were replacing 12 old lighting fixtures with preassembled new ones. We usually try to do as much work around the house as possible, but we said since this is electrical work and we want everything done properly, let’s hire someone…

I chose CF Services because they were somewhere in the middle in terms of price, and during the consultation, [redacted] (adolescent worker) guaranteed that he could handle the whole job when prompted by [redacted] (owner).

When first calling to hire him, I asked if was speaking with [redacted]—he responded “It depends on who’s looking for him.” Although we set a date over a week away, he never contacted me to confirm the appointment—I had to be the one to call him the night before. When I asked who would be doing the installations and emphasized that we wanted the job handled properly, all he said was “One of my employees will be coming out.”

Morning came and [redacted] arrived half an hour late at 9:30 without communication. Then, the real fun began. We had him start with a medium-sized chandelier. He struggled to just remove the existing standard flushmount light and had to be instructed by us on how to do so. Then he hurriedly put together the chandelier chain and hanging pieces, in the wrong order, and spent literally an HOUR climbing up and down the ladder experimentally screwing and unscrewing things.

In the meantime, my nearly 60 year old father had to be his assistant the entire duration, lifting up the chandelier for him and climbing his own step stool to hand him parts/accessories. This didn’t stop him from dropping things and knocking into parts of a CRYSTAL chandelier. After several failed attempts, we were the ones who had to explain the written directions to him—which he barely looked at because he kept insisting he knew what to do. As if that was not bad enough, he had a temper tantrum while working and started banging parts together.

I ran off and called [redacted], explained all the issues, and asked if someone else could at least come assist him. [redacted] said no, and to have [redacted] put in all but the two chandeliers, which he would come later in the week to install. I relayed this message to [redacted] and directed him to start working on a vanity light. He removed the old fixture and found that the electrical box needed to be centered in the wall for the new fixture—which was something we had discussed in the consultation. When asked if he could do this, he said “Yeah, but I’m not 100% confident there won’t be any problems, so maybe you want to wait for [redacted].”

We said okay, moved on, and directed him to install a simple flushmount light in the closet. Again, he took the old one off, didn’t read any instructions, began trying to install the new one, couldn’t accomplish anything, and started banging it to the ceiling. We told him it was alright, and that we would contact [redacted] to arrange everything else.

Over two hours and we were left with nothing but a huge headache, disconnected lights, and damaged light fixtures… needless to say, we did not go with CF Services for this job.

I was shopping online for curtains and came across www.appleberryattic.com website. They state on their website that they ship in 3 business days unless it is a special order. I purchased (2) valances, which were not a special order, on February 1, 2014. To date, February 24, 2014, I have not received the two items I ordered. When I went back online to contact the company, I found out they have no phone number or street address. They offer only an email address. After (3) emails attempts, I finally received an email back from them on February 14, 2014 stating due to the weather there was a delay but that the items had been shipped. It stated in the email that the items were shipped through USPS with tracking #XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. Unfortunately, this tracking number is not a valid number and least not linked to my order directly. I went on the USPS website and see that this tracking number was delivered today, February 24, 2014 in [redacted] NC coincidentally the same city this business is in. I have since tried to contact the company letting them know that this tracking number is not a valid number regarding my order and once again I have not heard from them. I paid the company $49.90 and have received nothing from this company.Product_Or_Service: (2) Chevron Window ValancesOrder_Number: (XXXX)Desired SettlementI would like a refund in the amount of $49.90 put back on my credit card. I think this company is a fraud and want nothing to do with them.More info received from the consumer 2014-02-27I received the two items I purchased from Appleberry Attic today, February 27, 2014 (26 days after I placed my order online, 13 days after she said she shipped the item to me which was untrue, and 21 days after their website states they ship their products in three business days). The tracking number I was given by this company became active on February 24th from [redacted], NC (where it originated even though I received the one and only email from them stating the package was picked up by USPS on February 14th) to it's final destination in [redacted], VA. The truth is I was lied to and the package wasn't mailed on the 14th as promised but 10 days later. Tracking numbers don't lie. I'm satisfied with the product but can't understand how a company offers no phone number for inquires, nor a physical street address or city for their business and only offers an email address which they don't respond to no matter how many times they are contacted. Thank you for your effort in working with me and trying to get either what I paid for back on my credit card or the product. Like I said, I'm happy with the product so I'll just leave it at that. I won't do anymore business with Appleberry Attic nor recommend them.
