Appliance Outlet of The Virginias, Inc. Reviews (3)

Review: I ordered and paid for (including shipping costs) an oven in early November 2014. We were unable to coordinate shipping to enable delivery prior to my leaving for a medical missionary trip that November so I cancelled the order approximately one week after ordering. [redacted]. of appliance outlet sent an email stating he could hold the item until spring or send a refund. I responded back that I wanted a refund. When I returned home I never checked my [redacted] account to ensure the credit was given (I assumed this was an honest company). When I realized in late March that no refund had been applied I emailed [redacted]. and asked why no refund was applied. He responded that he had been holding the appliance and that if I wanted it shipped he would ship it or he could give me a refund. I AGAIN stated I wanted a refund. Since that time I've requested a refund of the monies paid on at least 6 occasions . [redacted]. and Appliance Outlet now do not respond to any emails and apparently intend to keep my payment and not honor their agreement to refund my payment. This company has been "holding" an appliance (without my request) and refusing to honor their agreement to refund my purchase paymentDesired Settlement: Appliance Outlet to do the right thing and just credit my [redacted] account for my payment

Response:

[redacted] purchased an obsolete GE combo oven from us on [redacted] on 11/1/2014. After the purchase, he said that he was leaving town and would not return until the Spring and would have to get a refund. We then offered to hold the item until the Spring. Six months later, he informed us that he wanted his money back. We don't offer refunds after sixty days. We contacted [redacted] and [redacted], and they informed us we had no obligation to refund the purchase and we were unable to do so through them to recover any selling fees. All consumer purchases are protected by [redacted], and Visa/MC (who customers use to fund their [redacted] accounts) and will charge back any dispute to the merchant. The item is six months older and there is no demand for the item and we will be happy to ship him his combo oven as we are obligated to do.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

[redacted] from Applianceo did respond to my request for a refund ( which I sent one week after the order on Oct. 31). His message (which I can forward to you) stated that he could hold the item until the spring or he could send a refund. I NEVER requested a "hold" until spring. [redacted] took if upon himself to ignore my request ,and his own promise to send the refund, and hold the item. When I returned home and checked my [redacted] account in March, I realized no credit had been given . I messaged [redacted] (which I can forward and provide) and complained that the refund had not been given . His reply ( which I can forward and provide) stated that he could hold the item until spring or he could "get me a refund". He has been ignoring me ever since . It's quite simple . I can provide you copies of all of our correspondences that provide proof of my account of this dispute . [redacted] message dated March 31 ( which I can provide) states that he will give me a refund if I didn't want the oven in the spring. He is being misleading and disingenuous at best. He cannot produce any correspondence from me that agrees to or requests that he hold the item. Only multiple requests for a refund.

All we can offer the customer is the product they purchased last year, we can't offer them a refund as per our store's [redacted] rules, [redacted]'s money back refund policy, [redacted]'s refund and return guidelines and with the customer's credit card company. [redacted]Appliance Outlet

Regards,

This company has stated as recently as March 31 ( when they stopped responding to me) that they would send a refund ( I can forward the message) . They've been stalling ever since . This company ignored my request for a refund ( after stating they would send one if I wanted one) since November. They have been "holding" this order, against my request for a refund since November. All they need to do is send me a check. There is no need to go through [redacted] or [redacted] and no way to do so since they've dragged out the process for so long. I will accept a refund minus their fees from [redacted] and [redacted] ( even though the hold was done by them and NOT me). Again, I can support my claim that I have never asked for this item to be held ( messages to them stating so) and I have messages from them stating they WOULD send a refund if I desired one.

The customer did not respond to our offer for a refund in March, we contacted [redacted] and [redacted] and they could not refund the payment and told us we were under no obligation to refund the custoner's money. We owe the customer the merchandise they purchased.

Regards,

[redacted] of Appliance Outlet is lying by omission. He did in fact send a message (which I sent you in a previous email) offering a refund on March 31 which read; "We responded to your message ( the message may not have gone through) and we have been holding the item until the spring - let us know if you would still like it or we can get you a refund. Thanks! [redacted], Appliance Outlet." What he doesn't reveal is the fact that the above message was in response to MY message to him on March 29 ( which I also sent you in a previous email) which read; "I cancelled order for an oven back in late November. Why hasn't my [redacted] account been credited? I prefer not to open a dispute with [redacted] but am preparing to do so. [redacted] " So to sum it up; He was responding on March 31 to my complaint about his failure to cancel the order( as I requested way back in the first week of November) with a nonsensical message saying he was holding the item, and asking if I still wanted it? To say I did not reply is ridiculous considering he was replying to a complaint about him not giving the refund. It seems to me he was stalling and not being honest. He also fails to mention that after ignoring my reply messages to him requesting a refund for several days in early April, I called him (on April 6) and spoke with him . He stated that he was no longer obligated to give me a refund since, as of April 1, [redacted]s 6 month limitation had expired. I suggest this. ;Ask [redacted]. to provide ANY correspondence from me that asks for him to hold the oven in question after my two requests in November to cancel the order. I never sent any. Why did he offer to provide a refund (in response to my complaint) just prior to the 6 month limit (March 31) and then just a week later -after the 6 month limit- refuse to honor the offer? Ask why he held the item after I asked that he cancel the order . Bottom line is this. I have messages from me to him in November asking that he cancel the order. He chose to ignore my request and to " hold "the item against my wishes. When I complained in March about the lack of refund he delayed until April and then said essentially " too bad, too late". This merchant has not acted in good faith and is now hiding behind [redacted]'s and [redacted]'s time limit to excuse his dishonest actions. I ask that [redacted] provide ANY proof that I've ever asked for anything since November 8,2014 other than a cancellation and a refund. He won't because he can't. I however CAN provide messages that corroborate my version of events ( many of which I've already sent to you)
