Review: 8/25/14 6:30PM repairman arrived for the 4-6PM appointment. Diagnosed the washing machine as requiring a new rubber grommet and a safety switch to fix the spin cycle. The safety switch stops the drum when the lid is raised. Parts and labor = $183.05. I approved the bid as reasonable. He installed the new grommet and was finished in less than a half hour and than showed me how he bypassed the safety switch, without my permission (questionable about the legality of it, but I don't know) and now I had to press the button before raising the lid. He boasted how he saved me $40.00 for the cost of the part. His printer for the credit card machine didn't work, he seemed like a nice man, so I wrote down my VISA information. He was to email me a receipt. The receipt came the next day for the full amount and not the $40 savings. I called and emailed. No response. I took it to VISA, but because I handed him my credit card information I hold full liability by the VISA terms of dispute resolution.Desired Settlement: I feel that I should be reimbursed the $40 or come back at your labor and travel cost and fix the safety mechanism for the switch I paid for in the bid.

We received this complaint this week Oct 6, 2014. We are not sure what happened with this customer, however our senior technician has called and spoke with the customer and we are going back to look at machine to fix safety switch. It is not a normal practice to bypass safety's. We are looking into this.

I wanted to follow up with you regarding the matter with Kerry's Appliance Repair.

Obviously I could not reply until the appropriate action had taken place, but[redacted] did contact me, he returned at his cost and repaired the washer. He accommodated my working schedule. He even offered to come out the weekend before, but I was very ill and not able to take visitors. He is very professional and I believe the matter was a misunderstanding that he resolved promptly and professionally. I am very pleased and recommending him to my friends, neighbors, and work associates.
