Appliance Warehouse of America, Inc Reviews (11)

AH are thieves.
I entered a lease-to-own agreement with Appliance Warehouse for a washer and dryer back in October of 2020. I made monthly payments and the agreement was for roughly $1349.82 plus a $35.00 delivery fee. I have been expecting my payments to cancel but they have continued to charge me even after my lease was paid off and they refuse to refund me for the overcharged balance. I have paid them a total of $1710.04 according to my bank statements.

The first response was that the previous month was my last month, which was a lie. Then I was told they would send it to accounting and receive a call back which I never did. Then I called today and the lady I spoke with told me her manager said that the lease "didn't include taxes" which is totally false and not included in the lease agreement at all and even if that was the case taxes aren't $400 on a lease agreement of $1349.82. I asked to speak to her manager and was directed to a voicemail where I once again explained my issue and that I would be filing a complaint with the AG and BB if they didn't call back in 30 minutes which they never did.

Service
I have had the misfortune of being a customer of this company for approx 1 year in the KCMO area. I have rented a washer & dryer and in that time I have already had to have the dryer replaced, now the washer is inoperable. This company has horrible customer service, with no regard to if the customer is inconvenienced or not. I wish there was a way to rate at a half star and yet that would be too much. It is impossible to reach any type of "manager" that will step up and work the problem. Do yourself a favor if you need these type of appliances for your home or apartment find any other reputable business that carry's these items and go to them. EVEN if you have to pay a little extra. I promise you you will be glad that you did. This company does not care about their customers, they will not treat you well, you will be extremely frustrated while you continue to have to spend your hard earned money.

I will not recommending this company to any one everThey make you wait a week to have your appliances servicedOn top of that, they tell you one thing one day and the next day they tell you another thingMake an appointment an inconvenience instead of having a positive experienceThe day they are supposed to have a Warehouse Supervisor no one ever shows up and then when I call I am told that my service has been rescheduledIt would have been nice to get a phone call stating that but no I don't get a phone call and I am given the excuse I completely understand

This company turned me into a collection agency FOUR months after my acct closed for a payment I did not owe. (AND they had NEVER billed me for it!)On 8/27/2013 I called this company to report that I was moving, and to discontinue my rental account for a washer & dryer I was renting from them for my apartment in [redacted], NC. I was ASSURED by their account representative that mine would close out on 8/31/2013 and that my final balance was $144.54 (Assured a second time that there would be no additional fees). I paid this amount and the account rep told me that they could not pick up the washer & dryer set until 9/10/2013, even though I was moving out on 9/6/2013. The property management at [redacted] and Appliance Warehouse has a signed agreement to enter the apartment for removal. The pickup confirmation number is: [redacted]. The new tenant and the property management confirmed that they picked it up on 9/10/2013 as scheduled.Since I was moving 95 miles away, I asked again if there would be any additional charges. The customer service rep told me no. I never heard from the Appliance Warehouse again, assuming everything that was agreed upon was true and correct. One week before Christmas 2013 (FOUR months later), I received a call from the [redacted] & [redacted]. collection agency on behalf of Appliance Warehouse. They stated that this was for the month of SEPTEMBER 2013 that I did not pay. I tried to explain that I didn't owe this money (and repeated the information above), but they demanded the money and it hit my credit report. [redacted] is their collections specialist ([redacted], Ext [redacted]) that demanded my payment or I would suffer even deeper damage on my credit report. I decided to pay the additional $48.18 to [redacted] & [redacted]. to keep them from calling and harassing me any further. On January 17, 2014 I purchased a [redacted] Money Order in the amount of $48.18 and mailed it to them via [redacted] (and additional $5.60) to track the package and ensure it's delivery. I did this since I do not trust APPLIANCE WAREHOUSE or [redacted].They called me back and demanded the tracking number ([redacted]). It was delivered to them on 1/21/2014 at 6:13pm. On 1/23/2014 [redacted] & [redacted]. posted a letter to me confirming receipt of the $48.18, and identified that this account was paid in full. (Account #[redacted]; Customer ID #[redacted]) I received the letter/receipt on 1/27/2014.Desired Settlement$48.18 for the [redacted] Money Order (for a balance I did not owe according to Appliance Warehouse's customer service representative that closed my account), and $5.60 for the priority mail delivery to their collection agency in [redacted]. Total: $53.78 If this is completed successfully and without delay, I will not report this to my friends who manage the [redacted] Apartment Homes community in[redacted]. They are the ones that recommended Appliance Warehouse to me in the first place.Business Response Revdex.com Attn: Complaint Department[redacted] XXXXXSubject: [redacted] COMP_ ID# XXXXXXXXAppliance Warehouse is responding to the complaint and dispute made by [redacted] COMP_ID: XXXXXXXX.We have reviewed Mr. [redacted]'s account thoroughly. I received my refund of $48.18 from Appliance Warehouse of America, Inc. on Monday, 31 March 2014. It was mailed to my old residence, but thankfully I am still in contact with the new family that moved into my apartment. I understand that this was caused by a simple oversight on the part of their call center, but I hope it helps in training employees to follow through on consumer calls and requests. This should have never been escalated to a collection agency since the error was not mine. I was a call center supervisor for three years, so I fully understand. My experience with them has been positive, and they provided a service I needed as a temporary lease holder. I may need them again in the future, so I am glad they restored my faith in them by issuing the refund so promptly. I will recommend them to my friends as well as other property managers.Respectfully,[redacted]

Appliance Whse rents broken down & dirty units and gets people to pay for insurance on already dented appliances.Their customer service is subpar.I've rented from this company for almost 2 years. My first problem is that they continuously charged me for insurance when I clearly asked for it to be removed. Then my washer broke down and I scheduled service. On the date repair was to be made I was told they had no one to repair my washer.I was then promised another date which was again missed.I was then told they had no one to service my area and had to wait a full 2 weeks for repair of my washer. When it was finally repaired it was time for me to relocate and I decided to give them another chance since I only recently had problems with them. When I got to my new home in July of 2016 I had the company deliver my washer and dryer to my new location.First, the delivery many scratched the paint on my wall when he bought the appliances into my home. The washer and dryer arrived badly dented.I bought this to the attention of the delivery man and he said that people dent them and the company never charges anyone. This time around I opted for insurance so I wondered why I should pay for insurance every month if the units already arrived dented.I called to have this notated on my account so I wouldn't be held responsible. Then when the delivery man tested the washer before leaving it made a knocking noise.I asked him about this and he said it was just refurbished with a new motor yet it made a bad knocking noise as watered filled the unit. When I tried to wash my first load of clothes, I noticed that it only agitated intermittently.Even if I set it on heavily soiled it would only agitate for about 3 minutes then pause and it would do this the entire wash. Then, when it did agitate it made the absolutely loudest noise which scared my young child and dog. This was by far THE loudest washing machine ever. There was no way it was just refurbished with a new motor. Not only that, it only agitated intermittently which left my laundry dirty when the wash completed. When the washer was not agitating, the clothes would just sit there in the water, which essentially created a nasty dirt ring around the washer because the clothes would spend several minutes sitting in the water in the washer and not being swished around or cleaned.Washer should not wash intermittently and should not leave my clothes dirty afterwards. Then, when I went to use the dryer for the first time it was still linty on the inside and I found a clipped fingernail inside the drum. How disgusting! When they were delivered, they were dusty and had to be wiped down by the delivery man. These were just two gross and defective machines that I don't think were worth the $41/month I had to pay.I have been a good customer and the washers they rent need to be thrown out into the garbage.I had my washer picked up today and my dryer will very soon be picked up because I would rather buy my own than pay them another penny for these poorly working machines. Their machines are old, dented, dirty, they do not clean my clothes and they surely do not function as they should which has left the inside of the washer absolutely nasty. Also, I called to have my washer picked up today, which they collected and was told I would receive a call back by close of business yesterday with a date for my dryer pickup.Guess what, the call never came so now I have to call them back and take more time out of my day.[redacted] told me either she personally or Ms. [redacted] from the Dallas office would call me back after she lied and told me they already scheduled the dryer pickup but when I asked for the confirmation number she told me Ms. [redacted] was in the process of doing it but the computer was down. I told her I would like to hold to confirm it was scheduled and she told me it would take more time but she ensured me one of them would call me back yesterday. So far no call. I guess I have to take more time out of my day to call them back.Terrible customer service!Desired SettlementI would like appliance warehouse to refund my $25 transfer fee and the $88 rental fees which I have already paid up through September 20, 2016. I would also like courtesy refund of $50 for my scratched wall and for the inconvenience of having to have dirty clothes and a dirty washer and dryer, as well as the time I have had to spend on the phone getting corrections to my bill made (the insurance I had to keep calling to get off of my bill).I am already ending my relationship with appliance warehouse but I would like these credits to go to my credit card.Thank you.Business Response Revdex.com Attn: Complaint Department[redacted] XXXXXSubject: [redacted] COMP_ ID# XXXXXXXXAppliance Warehouse is responding to the complaint and dispute made by [redacted], COMP_ID: XXXXXXXX.We have reviewed Ms. [redacted]'s account thoroughly and had already provided Ms. [redacted] with customer satisfaction refunds totaling over $25.00 recently that was related to this matter (including the move fee of $20.00). This refund is in relations to the $88.10 payment made by the customer on 07/30/16 (this amount includes move fee totaling, late fee for July invoice totaling, and limited damage waiver totaling). However, this amount will be prorate only for the monthly service billed due to the fact that the bill that was paid for was service time frame of 08/20/16 to 09/19/16. In addition, the equipment is scheduled pickup date is 09/12/16. At this time the final refund will be provided. Per company's policy all damage should be submit through the leasing office at the time that it occurred. We have not record of any complaint filed by the customer in our system. If you have any questions please feel free to call me at X-XXX-XXX-XXXX ext 2238. Sincerely,[redacted]ManagerAppliance Warehouse of America, Inc.XXX-XXX-XXXXX-XXX-XXX-XXXXConsumer Response Thanks for your respons, [redacted] however you are incorrect. The credits I received were for two reasons. Please review the notes in their entirety. I was OWED a portion of those credits because back in January 2016 and again towards the middle of this year I asked to have my limited damage fee removed but I continued to be billed for it even after I requested it be removed several times to no avail. That was money appliance warehouse refunded due to a billing error on their part not mine. I should not haven continued to be billed for this. The remaining credits were customer satisfaction credits because I scheduled my dryer repair for July 6 and on that day they called and told me they had no one available which seems a usual problem for your company because only one person works each area. I stayed home basically for nothing and they rescheduled me and again missed that appointment then told me I had to wait 2 weeks for repair without use of my dryer. So I got a credit for my product being out of commission. Why should I have to pay for a product I can't use??? I'm sure you wouldn't want to. So again a credit I was owed. I paid you and I couldn't use the product and they added a few more dollars for the inconvenience of missing appointments. Fast forward to this issue, I paid IN FULL the $88.10 which is equipment rent, $20 move fee and insurance. I want all of that back. I paid it in full which covered me up until September 20. I received NO credits for the issue I have outlined in this complaint. So again I request $88.10 in full due to having rented dirty and loud equipment that did not function as promised because it DID NOT clean my clothes. I am entitled to dispute this with my credit card company because your product was not as promised. It wasn't clean, and didn't work to clean my clothes as it should. I DO NOT accept your offer of a prorated fee. Also why should I only get a prorate for the dryer when they picked up the washer on September 1. Your offer is wrong in so many ways. I would like my $88.10 back in full. I am willing to accept that to close this dispute which includes me move fee and month of service which I HAVE NOT received any past credit for as I outlined above. Thank you, [redacted].Final Business Response Current awaiting pickup of the equipment which is scheduled for 09/19/16. At that time final refund will be calculated and given to customer. Thanks

An employee from this company delivered a leased washer and drier and damaged the floor during delivery. I request they repair the damage. - In October 2014 I requested a lease of one washer and one drier in my apartment, address is specified above. - An employee from AWA (Appliance Warehouse of America, Inc) installed the appliances in my apartment, while I was not in my house. I authorized the installation while I was out. I don't recall the exact date, only that it was October 2014.- When I came back from work, I noticed some damage to the floor. It seems like someone dragged the appliances in the original box, and probably there was metal in the bottom of the box. The marks go from the front door until where the appliances were installed. - I called AWA, opened a claim under my account (account# is [redacted]). After a long time, they requested pictures of the damage. This was sent in 3/19/14 to the email [redacted].- I haven't heard from them. I called again and leave voice messages to the claim department, which are not returned. - I plan to move from this apartment soon, it's a lease. I cannot do it with the floor in this condition. - I finally gave up talking to them and appeal to the Revdex.com for help. - The company's data is:Appliance Warehouse of America, Inc. www.appliancewhse.com[redacted]Account# [redacted]Monthly rent for 1 washer and 1 drier: $38.91First invoice paid in 10/11/2014, $69.11 Desired SettlementI request that the floor is repaired to the original state.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]/ManagerContact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email:[redacted]Appliance Warehouse has reached out to the property to resolve the issue due to the damage was to the apartment (floor) and not the customer's personal property. We will continue to work with the property/management company to completion and take steps to insure this situation does not impact the relationship our customer may have with the apartment community. The customer received notification of our actions via mail and email.

This company is trying to charge me for equipment that was picked up by their dispatch company.I fell delinquent on my rental payments for my washer/dryer set that I have been renting from them since 2013. A delivery driver came to my house...stated that he was from appliance warehouse...he knew my name and my payment amount due and said that he was there to collect my washer and dryer. I said okay and allowed this man into my home where my kids and I lay our heads at night to pick up this equipment. I watched him get his dolly and haul my washer and dryer right out of my home. I have witnesses to prove it. A few weeks ago, I received a collection notice stating that I owed over $900 for unreturned equipment. When I called, Heidi told me that they do not require forms to be signed as a receipt of collection. This type of business practice would allow for so many people to fall victim to these types of crimes. She stated that their dispatch did not have my washer and dryer and that the work order stated that the man was not able to access my home. This is a complete lie and now I am responsible for the bill. This is completely unacceptable and something must be done! This has been forwarded to credit collection agency although I was robbed!!Desired SettlementI am seeking that the billing is adjusted and removed from my credit report. I returned my equipment.Business Response We have attempted to contact Ms. [redacted] for three months at the contact number provided to our company regarding her delinquent account. Last time customer contacted our office prior to recent dates about equipment dispute, was in November to make payment arrangments. At which time she defaulted and did not return any other calls to our offices to resolve or dispute. She is contacting our company to dispute this after placement with a collection agency for delinquency and failure to return equipment. Our offices attempted three separate dates , 11/16/2016, 1/12/2016, and 1/27/2016, due to delinquency of the rental on equipment. Each attempt are noted that there was not anyone home and we did not have access through the leasing office to enter. Ms. [redacted] did not setup a pick up order for equipment on her own. Additional research was completed and inventory in warehouse has been checked and the serial numbers rented to the customer are not found. All hard copy of orders pulled for the customer along with other orders for the apartment community and reviewed. There was not any record of the rented equipment removed by our offices or representatives of our offices from Ms. [redacted]'s apartment homeConsumer Response A worker identified himself as an Appliance Warehouse worker with my name and balance as well as address and stared that he was there to pick up equipment that defaulted on so I let this man into my house to pick it up. Because [redacted] at Appliance Warehouse informed me that they do not require signatures for pick up makes me believe that it's very possible to have people come out to pick up equipment and then do with it as they please because there's no verification of the pick up. Because the man stated that on the workorder that no one was home was already a red flag. HE CAME INTO MY HOUSE WITH ALL OF MY INFORMATION AND REMOVED MY WASHER AND DRYER WITH NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED PER APPLIANCE WAREHOUSE GUIDELINES. I will NOT be responsible for their dispatch stealing from people that defaulted on payments. I caused no issues and let him into my home where me and my kids sleep. He came to collect my equipment January 2016.

On July 1,2016 made a $50 payment to Appliance Warehouse due to a glitch in their system they took out an xtra payment and another $50 on 7/6.On July 1, 2016 I accessed the "Appliance Warehouse of America" website to make a $50.00 payment using my check card and received a message from the website stating that my card was invalid. After attempting at least two more times to make a payment using my check card I was met with the same message of an invalid card so I decided to make the payment using my checking account by providing my routing and account numbers at which point the payment went through. I contacted the financial institution that issued me the check card to make sure my card was not invalid. After verifying that my card was indeed valid I assumed that the message I had received when trying to make the payment using my check car was due to an error on Appliance Warehouse of America's side.On July 2, 2016 I checked my online banking account and saw that Appliance Warehouse of America had taken out two $50.00 were there should only had been one since the check card payment didn't go through because my card was supposedly invalid per their website. I call their customer service number and the automated voice states that they have an extremely high call volume and that my call will be answered by the next available representative...five hours and 57 seconds later I am still on hold waiting for a representative and according to their website their customer service hours are fromMon - Fri 6:30am - 7:30p.m CSTSat - Sun 8:30am - 5:00pm CSTIt is after 5:00pm so I hang up and call two more times only to be met with the automated system letting me know that the office is now closed. I call again on July 3, 2016 and receive the same automated message regarding an extremely high call volume I decide to callback later. I call on July 4, 2016 three times this time I am connected to CSC answering service and they were not familiar with Appliance Warehouse so I call their corporate office were I receive the message that they are closed for the holiday. I call Appliance Warehouse on July 5, 2016 and speak with their representative [redacted] who stated that she would work with their accounting department so that the extra charged would be reversed that day. I call Appliance Warehouse later in the day and is told by another rep [redacted] that they would not be able to reverse the charges that day as it would take 5 to 7 days and that [redacted] supposedly told me per the notes on the account. I then let [redacted] know that the return of 5 to 7 business days is unacceptable because the extra $50 they took from my account is going to cause an overdraft if it is not returned by July 5, I then ask to speak with a supervisor. I speak with the supervisor [redacted] about what has happened and she lets me know that she is going to work with the accounting department to have my funds reversed asap and if I do incur an overdraft fee just let them know and they will refund me that fee as well.On July 6, 2016 I check my banking account online and see not only did they not refund me the $50.00 as promised but they took another $50.00 from my account so now they have taken out $100.00 unauthorized and caused an overdraft fee of $25.00 as well. I call my credit union first to see if they could straighten this mess out because Appliance Warehouse is only making things worse and I am told that they are unable to help because it came in as a machine payment EDI and that I would have to call Appliance Warehouse. I call them only to be told that their system shows I was credited the $50.00 after arguing with the rep about the credit versus the debit I request to speak to a supervisor again and told that my account is showing the $50.00 had been returned and that it takes a couple of days for it to appear in my account??? Basically they were saying that even though it appears in my checking account as a debit and it caused an overdraft that it was actually a credit and that somehow it is going to magically reverse from a debit to a credit. On July 7, I call again regarding the fact that they have now tDesired SettlementI am owed two $50 refunds plus a $25 overdraft fee and as of July 8 I have only received one $50 refund. I am still owed one $50 unauthorized withdrawal and the $25 overdraft I was promised they would pay since they caused my account to incur an overdraft and negative balance. Business Response Revdex.com Attn: Complaint Department[redacted] XXXXXSubject: [redacted] COMP_ ID# XXXXXXXXAppliance Warehouse is responding to the complaint and dispute made by [redacted], COMP_ID: XXXXXXXX.We have reviewed Ms. [redacted]'s account thoroughly and provided Ms. [redacted] with a refund totaling $50.00 on 07/06/16 and $100.00 on 07/11/16. In addition, Ms. [redacted] was given a customer satisfaction credit totaling $26.75 on 07/11/16. I truly apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused. If you have any questions please feel free to call me at X-XXX-XXX-XXXX ext 2238. Sincerely,[redacted]ManagerAppliance Warehouse of America, Inc.XXX-XXX-XXXXX-XXX-XXX-XXXXConsumer Response I was told by [redacted] at Appliance Warehouse that they were going to return a total of $150 to my checking account which would be the original payment of $50 that I had made on July 1,2016 plus the two unauthorized charges of $50 and as a result; Appliance Warehouse would add my June and July monthly bill amounts together totaling $91.75 and then apply the overdraft fee that they owed me as a $25 credit toward the combined bills so therefore, my total amount due for my July 16, 2016 bill would be $66.75. I am not sure if this is related to Appliance Warehouse but I do find it a bit suspicious that I was told by their representative that they had a glitch in their system on July 1, 2016 which caused the double payment from my checking account on July 1 in the first place, and then on July 11 and July 15 I incurred a financial loss due to ... three unauthorized charges to my banking account and these unauthorized charges did not start happening until I started having problems with Appliance Warehouse. Also, as I told one of their representatives during one of the many calls I made to Appliance Warehouse trying to get this problem taken care of that there were times when I tried to access their website through my android smartphone I would receive a warning message stating that their site was not secure as a hacker may be trying to steal my personal information so I was advised to not proceed to their website.Did the glitch in their system on July 1,2016 expose my personal account information causing it to be compromised thereby leading to the unauthorized charges to my banking account and if so, was I the only customer affected. Your help in resolving this matter is greatly appreciated.Final Business Response As of 7/11/16 all 3 payments have been credited back to her account and a $25 credit was applied to her Appliance Warehouse account.

Unclean machines delivered dirty and full of lint. Machines in poor operating condition. Horrible customer service experience. If you have any other options, please take them. This company is horrible. When they originally delivered the washer and dryer units, they were beat up, and dirty. The lint trap wasn't even clean. I called to complain and they said that they could re-deliver another set but the units we received had gone through their cleaning process. I didn't want to have to wait around another day for them to deliver another set of dirty units so I just cleaned them myself. During the time that I had the units, they basically provide junk. They are old, make such a noise when they spin, just garbage. You could probably buy the equivalent at a garage sale for $50. Then the pickup. They give you an all day window to sit around and wait. They do say they will provide you with more accurate window the morning of. I call and they provide an hour time frame. The time frame comes and goes and I call again. They provide another window 3 hours later. Just waste their customer's time and don't really care. Desired SettlementI would like a credit or refund for part of my last bill. Business Response Hello, we have credited a full month's amount ($39.36) back to Ms. [redacted] credit card on file. Additionally, I have made contact with Ms. [redacted] via email and offered our sincere apologies for her inconvience, as well as confirm with her that the credit should appear on her credit card within 48 hours. Ms. [redacted] is pleased with the resolution, and I've encouraged her to contact me directly if she has any questions or needs any further assistance moving forward.Thank you[redacted]Consumer Response

Order never delivered in time. Business lacks communications with the consumers. When I ordered few appliances from Appliance Warehouse of America Inc. my promised delivery date was Monday, November 30, 2015. However, the business called me on the promised date, saying the driver was not available (for unknown reason they neglected to tell me). Because of the fault from the business, this business has refunded my delivery fee and rescheduled the delivery date to Wednesday, December 2, 2015.For few days, I trusted this business to deliver my items by the promised date.Unfortunately, the delivery was never made.I called the business couple times but I was only connected once. When I was connected, the unprofessional representative answered the phone with such dreadful tone, as if he was forced to work.He told me the delivery is scheduled to be made around 4:50 PM ~ 5:50 PM on the promised date (Wednesday, December 2, 2015).I kept my hopes up, thinking the business will correct its previous mistake and actually deliver the product in time.Regrettably, the delivery was never made. Not only that, the business never called or contacted me in any way to notify the delay or anything that happened.Meanwhile, I was waiting for the delivery and was not able to go to work, thanks to the company's false promise.I am extremely unsatisfied with the company's treatment and promise that was never met.Desired SettlementI demand the business to deliver my products as soon as possible. Business Response Contact Name and Title:[redacted], V.P.Contact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email:[redacted]Hello - The delivery was completed on Dec. 4th, confirmation [redacted]. The customer has been credited his $25 delivery fee as well as an additional $20 for the inconvenience. I've sent the customer an email as well to ensure everything is resolved to his satisfaction.
