Applied Membranes sent a system that was malfunctioning. The problem was in the fifth membrane and required an additional electric pump to correct. I had to pay the plumber for the initial install, plus three more visits to try different configurations based on Applied Membranes' recommendations. In addition, I had to pay an electrician to install an outlet to plug the pump into, which should have been necessary.

Applied Membranes agreed to pay for the extra installation expenses, but have stopped responding to all my contact requests. They owe me a considerable amount to cover the additional plumber installation visits due, all necessary because of the malfunctioning system.

Review: Housing of reverse osmosis water filtration system leaks. The system ([redacted]) was purchased on 4/9/14 from [redacted]. Initially there was an installation problem. [redacted] was contacted on 4/14/14, extra instructions were e-mailed to me that same day and eventually I was sent additional parts on 4/29/14. That problem was resolved. On 11/13/14 the housing of the system began leaking. I contacted [redacted] whose representative told me that it was past 30 days of the original invoice date and that I had a 1 yr. warranty. On 11/24/14 I e-mailed Applied Membranes, Inc., the manufacturer regarding the defective H2O system. On 11/ 25 I received a response which said the following:

Dear [redacted],

I regret the problems you are having with the [redacted] system. It is under warranty. You should return it to [redacted] where is was purchased for replacement. We will be in touch with them to insure you get a product back that meets your expectations.

This e-mail was forwarded to [redacted]. After lots of runaround from [redacted], I told its representative I was in the process of filing a complaint with a national agency. It was only then (1/27/15) that I was given an RGA number and told to ship the system to Applied Membranes, Inc., [redacted]. On 1/30/15 the [redacted] system was shipped via [redacted] to [redacted]. After exchanging some more e-mail messages with [redacted], on 2/26 I received an e-mail informing me that [redacted] was ready to ship the replacement part pending the cost of return shipping, $9 to me. I responded that it was not just a part but an entire system that was sent to [redacted]. I also repeated that because I had so many problems with the system, I was not interested in getting back the same unit. Instead, I requested a refund or a new system that functions efficiently.Desired Settlement: First preference, a refund. If not, a new system that performs efficiently minus all the problems that I had with the original one.
