Review: Apsley Builders came out to give us an estimate on our backyard deck project in May 2014. We signed a contract with their "project manager" on June 11, 2014. The work finally began 3 weeks after they claimed it work and all seemed fine. Then the owner, [redacted] claimed that the "project manager" underbid the job and was fired, since he had done this on multiple occasions. [redacted] then claimed he needed additional money to continue working on the project, we gave a little more and that wasn't good enough so he never came back. He has taken $13,000 dollars from us and our deck has been sitting unfinished for a couple weeks now. He never answers his cell phone and Bee the woman who answers the office phone, always says they will be out the next day and no one shows up! We have a contract that was agreed on and signed between my husband, myself and their employee.Desired Settlement: Cash refund
Review: Gave apsley builder a deposit to install a fence at my home over one year ago. They said it was ordered wrong, kept blaming each other and never resolved the confusion. Found a reputable company to do my fence and want money back to pay the other company. Gave me a check seven months ago and every time I tried to cash bank said insufficient funds.Desired Settlement: Want my deposit of $2150 returned

Response:
This is a false claim- check# 1762- $2000 and #1763 - $150
issued in November 9, 2012, #1762 was cashed on 11/23 and #1763 was
cashed on 11/29. We have requested the cancelled checks from the bank,
but this will take some time since the account is closed.

Review: We signed a contract with Apsley Builders, in which it was agreed that the company would renovate our bathroom.Apsley started the project by demolishing our bathroom. This demanded one and a half days of work, in the first week of June 2013.Since the date of the demolition (a month ago), we have had no contact from the company despite our numerous emails and phone calls. We often reach voice messages that the voice mailboxes are full, or that the company's numbers are no longer in service. We have attempted twice to stop by in person, but the office was closed each time and there was no sign that anyone was around. In addition, it is our understanding that the project consultant (with whom we originally signed the contract) is no longer working for the company. To date, we have submitted two payments to Apsley: an initial deposit, then a payment for the demolition.Currently, our bathroom is totally demolished and thus obviously not at all functional.Since Apsley has not rendered services for which we have already paid, this is not only a breach of contract, but a potential case of fraud.Desired Settlement: We would like to be refunded our initial deposit, since the only service that Apsley has rendered is the demolition of the bathroom.
