Aptus Solutions Reviews (2)

Several Months ago I started to assist a friend with an issue with two Microsoft programs that couldn't share a mailing list without retyping the whole list. After I tried and also could not find a way to integrate the mailing list my friend went on line to contact support for Windows Live Mail Support that listed a phone number. My friend contacted it. It turned out to be "Aptus Business Solutions (aka [redacted], [redacted] to name a few). They could not solve the integration issue and told her she didn't have a firewall (which was a lie). They loaded on some free software that my friend was directed to download from the web and charged her $199.99. Then I told her that the software was free and not necessary and that she had a firewall the whole time. To help her, I contacted the company and her credit card company and indicated she wanted to cancel the service as their website said there was a 30 day cancellation period. This was well within 30 days.
In the last three months they have contacted her several times to try and charge her additional money. One time they said they were calling to do the refund (which was also a lie because the credit card company was already going thru the steps to refund her money). They told her [redacted] was not able to refund in [redacted] (the man was Indian not Asian) and wanted her to go to her banking site so they could "walk her thru the refund". Luckily she doesn't bank on line and refused. They also have told her on several occasions that they still had her credit card number and 3 digit code from the back.
They called her again July 31, 2016 stating they wanted to update her computer. She indicated she did not want to talk with them and asked for their phone number. She asked me to return their call. I did. I asked them to leave her alone. The number was ###-###-####. They called me back nine times July 31, 2016 early evening at 6:29, 6:31, 6:32, 6:38, 6:41, 6:41, 6:44, 6:44, and lastly 6:45pm. The first few times I tried to explain that neither she nor I wanted them to contact us any longer, and that I would report them to the authorities. He even tried to tell me he was transferring me to the FBI and when a "second man" got on the phone he said he was "John C[redacted]" with the FBI (though I think he slipped and said FBA once). I asked him what city he was in and he said "California". I told him that was a state. Then he said he was taking my name to report it and I said I thought you were the FBI he said he was. The last several times they called I didn't answer.
My friend has contacted [redacted] and asked that a new credit card be issued because of her fear of this person making charges on her current credit card. [redacted] has closed her account and is issuing a new credit card.
I am writing this to let people know what's going on and not to fall for these lies. These people are obviously running a scam and especially with older people who may not be as savvy as others about these schemes.
If you need any additional information or if there is a way to file a formal complaint, please let me know.
