APW Plumbing, Heating, & Cooling Reviews (%countItem)

Company lied! Took $350 dollars to make a repair they said was needed for our warranty to cover expenses with our furnace however our warrenty company said they should have never asked for money. Very shady. Took the money and wouldn’t give a receipt. Now we want our $350 back. Based off the reviews online they have scammed multiple people. This is a horrible company.

Please see attached.
After reviewing the notes and information pertaining to this customer, the following points are what was discovered about the service call that was performed by APW Plumbing Heating and Cooling on November 14, 2019.

***, the customers home warranty company, submitted a claim for APW to go out and diagnose and repair a furnace problemAPW sent a tech out the same day and the following issues were discovered:Located and diagnosed system. Found that systems data plate is worn off unable to detect age of system. System is not heating properly due to a bad control board, faulty flame sensor, and a damaged inducer motor housing. The control board has a short flame sensor is not detecting pilot causing the system to not heat and the inducer motor housing is rusted and is leaking out combustion air, which is unsafe and will have to be replaced. Noticed system did not have a proper drain line installed (causing system to backup and leak and rust out inducer motor cage and leak on the control board and flame sensor causing them to short out and rust). This also caused severe rust damage to entire cabinet. System also does not have a filter and has not been properly maintained. Unable to locate parts for system due to the damaged data plate so I cannot determine systems model or serial. Will have to turn into home warranty for them to locate systems info and replacement parts. Strongly recommend performing a cleaning on the system and bringing drain line up to code.

After submitting the claim for repairs needed to *** the home warranty company denied the entire claim for this repair due to “install and lack of maintenance". It is always the homeowner’s responsibility to properly maintain their equipment.A credit card payment was taken on November 14, 2019 in the amount of $350.00 (signed invoice is enclosed). The receipt was signed by the customer and emailed to *** at 4:36pm.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: The claims listed in the response from APW are false. The unit was in-fact properly maintained. They knew they shouldn’t have taken any cash from me if the warranty company sent them out to begin with. I didn’t receive a receipt or an invoice and multiple messages have been unreturned. APW IS A SCAM. Makes no sense. They repaired my furnace for $350 and then calls me back and tells me to buy a new furnace through them and not to go through my home warranty. They even told me not to mention the repairs to the warranty company. Called my warranty company and they said they have had complaints with APW. I was reassigned another company to check out my furnace and I can provide documents where they said the furnace WAS properly maintained. NO RUST. and all part numbers are legible. The new company I was assigned worked with my warranty company to get me squared away. My insurance company said they know they are not to request ANY money from the customer and that all claims go through the warranty company. They made up fake invoices to show you when in fact they should have been working with the warranty company to cover all issues. They also submitted a claim to the insurance company to get paid! They are trying to get in all directions. Just insane! I can provide documents from the new company stating my furnace was well maintained if needed.

Regards

Steer clear! Beware! Unprofessional technicians and they commit FRAUD in order to make an extra buck from you. Save yourself time, money and a headache and go somewhere else. On top of my negative experience, when I told them I would be writing a review to reflect what I thought of them and their service, they called me back immediately and offered me $300 dollars refund (on the service I paid for that I didn’t actually need) if I would provide them a 5-star review. After much thought, I decided that it wasn’t worth the money. I think that you should take any 5-star reviews for APW with a grain of salt.
Among the list of things that were negative with APW:
• With completely normal water pressure readings, they insisted that I needed a pressure regulator valve. They first quoted it at $300. I politely declined. Then the told me that the other repairs would not be covered by the home warranty company if I didn’t install this valve. Then it was quoted at $600. Conveniently the same amount that the other repairs (tub spout leaking when shower head engaged) would have cost me if my home warranty didn’t cover them.
• The technician visited my house on 2 separate occasions. On both occasions he asked to use the bathroom after he had shut off the water. He took a dump in my bathroom both times and allowed it to fester until he turned the water back on at the end of his visit.
• Upon completing the repairs, there were wrappers and trash from the parts left all over my bathroom.
• The women in the office are also very difficult to work with. The technician is standing in front of you telling you one story and when you call them, they’re telling you a different story. Super frustrating.
My experience with APW plumbing was through my home warranty company who assigned me to APW. If you have the same misfortune, call your home warranty company and demand a different plumbing company assignment.

I am sorry we cannot recommend their services. The technicians that have come out over the last 3 years have been nice people. We needed knowledgeable, skilled heating and cooling technicians. The heating and cooling equipment we paid cash for is always failing. We spent one week in winter without heat and because it was Christmas/New Year's week the company did not have technicians on-call. Now it is hot temps and our a/c has failed, and this isn't the first time. We get poor customer service when we call. It has been a very expensive and frustrating experience.

I had some plumbing work done by Tye Barry, a plumber with Apw he was very professional and knowledgeable. About plumbing I will only request tye to do my plumbing need. And I will stay a apw customer as long as tye is there and still plumbing thanks apw and tye Barry

Well this has been a three year roller coaster adventure with APW Plumbing. And not a real good one this is are first year we didn't have them out to redo something. Year one after install had a noise coming from the return after several trips free of course to fix the issue in which they finally did with a 20 some inch flex pipe that they looped into the return duck one monstrous object covers are basement. And now after two floods the furnace has not the dust and were going to replace theirs with a better one so now we are paying for 2 furnaces smart right. A final note to consumers out there deal with APW with care.

Darrell just left after replacing a leaky garbage disposal. He was very informative on the process and had a new garbage disposal in very quickly. Overall satisfaction with the company is a 5 star. Micki
