Aqua Apartment Reviews (1)

Review: When I first decided to move into this apartment complex, I was deceive with lack of information regarding 1200 Aqua. One of the ladies who worked with me did not mentioned six months lease. I told her this was my first time moving. When I looked at the pamphlet, it had one year to five years lease displayed (you get the point). I said is there any options other than what is giving on the pamphlet for the lease. Her reply was NO (meaning there are not any options). I had no choice to sign at Aqua because Addison (six months lease) apartment was not available in March. I had to be at Fort lee by the end of March. I have found out they had a six month lease option after I signed the agreement. I found this information out by calling 900 Aqua apartment in [redacted]. I was trying get information because 1200 Aqua apartment staff are deceivers. A month later, I accepted another job in Virginia Beach (this was great opportunity). I went back to the same lady who did not told me about the six month lease even though I said is there any options other than what is giving on the pamphlet. I declined the job because she said the manager (Nichole Wright) told her I cannot break the lease. I started to ask questions such as:1.What if I have bad health or loss my job due to employment? The answer to that question was too bad I can understand business want their money but what extent they go to get money out of people. I asked the question to see if she had any compassion and not what stated in the contract. This apartment complex are crooks and need be look atThis situation happen in 1-APR-2015. Ever since I been living at Aqua, my internet wireless had issues and the problem is still not fix. I went by the office yesterday and one of the ladies said the technician was fixing internet issue in apartment 15 (the technician supposed to fix internet connection on 5/28/2014). I do not believe it because I was having internet connection problems before. I am paying 1,140 dollars a month and expect to utilize every feature that was including in my agreement since I cannot terminate my lease due job relocation (from the government). The relocation was due to involuntary within my organization. The first job I declined because I applied to it. The second job I currently work for are involuntary moving me to another organization. This location is in Virginia Beach. I might lose my job behind this apartment complex. Moreover, I have an irregular heart beat and stress can make it worst. Do I get a discount? I am not utilizing all my features. Why I cannot terminate my lease? If I have accepted another job that is relocating (involuntary), we should be able to come to an agreement. I am paying my rent which is 1,140 dollars a month. Here is the kicker, they are not holding their end of the bargain. My rent includes the whole package and internet as well. I have problems with the internet since I arrived in March, but I am still pay 1,140 dollars a month. The issue is still not fix. I got laptop looked at, it was fine by the computer tech. I had my wireless router looked at, it was fine too.I feel like a person who is at the bank withdrawing money from the atm and they are the robber who taking my money. On June 2, 2015, I received a phone call from the computer technician about my router is not agreeing with their network. He said I will have to buy a net gear or Link system router. I went back home on May 29, 2015 to see my mother and she have the same router I purchase. I did not have any problems signing to the internet, What is the problem with their network. If they knew they issues with a certain brand, they should have warn me from the very start because I do not know. I am wasting money as well. Now, the computer technician (huis very own words) said sometime this router that is call Belkin does not work all the time. With that say, this apartment complex been knew this was an ongoing issues. Why not tell me from the start? They do not mentioned in their package either. To top it off, the manager (Nichole Wright) have not communicated about any issue as if she does not care. I am disappointed with the customer service and I will tell anyone not to live here. Last but not least, they do not have any respect. Why do I say that? I told the front office twice to tell the computer technician to call me before he enter in my apartment. They had failed to relay that message as well.Desired Settlement: I want to terminate my contract without any affect to my credit because I am upset due to disrespect from the Organization and the front office itself.

Response:

Hello, I’m writing to provide a written response to Case Number [redacted], filed and mailed on 6/12/15 to 1[redacted]3. Thank you for your time. Dear Sir, Thank you for taking the time to discuss your concerns and frustrations at the community and please know that your opinion matters very much to us. I’d like to address each of your concerns and hope that in doing so, that you may be put at ease. First of all, I’d like to apologize to you for any disrespect, misinformation, or neglect that you may have experienced while at the community. We strive to create an environment of relaxation, beauty, and customer service- always emphasizing the utmost respect for our residents. During your initial talks with the leasing agents prior to your move-in, it is true that we were not offering 6-month lease terms. We regularly vary our lease terms on a weekly (and sometimes daily) basis in order to manage the “spread” of our lease expirations. This is common practice at larger communities, which helps control when large numbers of lease expirations “fall” in the year in relation to a particular area’s flow of leasing traffic. I understand that you contacted another one of our properties, but I can assure you, that no lease expiration management plan is the same. For this reason, I apologize if you were informed by this second property of something that may not have been true. That site has no knowledge of the leasing expiration plan for the subject property, let alone their current lease term offerings. In reference to your concerns about ending your lease early, I’d like to reference the National Apartment Association’s [redacted] lease format that we’ve used for several years now. This format, which was created and approved by the NAA, does not give a default option for ending a lease early for any reason. Per the Virginia Residential Landlord Tenant Act, the legislative document that provides both tenants and landlords their lease-related rights, a tenant can only justify a request for an early termination of their lease if they are diagnosed by a doctor with a debilitating illness or have been given military orders. In reviewing your file, we did not see either of these situations being relevant. The site had experienced some serious interruptions to the internet and television infrastructure last year, as well as a lightning strike last summer that destroyed every piece of communication equipment on the property. Since then, we’ve replaced all of the equipment necessary to operate the on-site internet and television signal, as well as significantly increased the internet circuit size (speed) being distributed throughout the community. We also took it upon ourselves to incur the cost of troubleshooting our own tenants’ equipment to make sure that any problems experienced with service interruptions were not due to our own infrastructure. It sounds as if our technician found an issue not with our infrastructure, but with your own personal equipment. These technicians are employed by a third party vendor, so their diagnostics are completed in as objective of a view as possible. Just as [redacted], and [redacted] function, we cannot be held responsible for the performance of a subscriber’s personal equipment. Lastly, the site has had some significant turnover in 2015 to further ensure that our residents are receiving the highest level of customer service, with the quickest response time possible to any concerns that they may have. We look forward to your response and sincerely hope that this may adequately answer your questions and concerns. We are a small, family-run property management firm that cares very much about the experience that tenants have at our communities. Thank you again and please accept my heart-felt apology for your turbulent experience thus far. [redacted]Asset ManagerBECO Asset Management, LLC. | becoasset.comm: (804) 704-7506 p: (757) 547-1515
