Please note that the customer's vehicle was driven onto railroad tracks, starting at the crossing and then traveling down the tracksThe car was totaled due to the damage incurred in the accidentThe car was driven
approximately 1116th of a mile on the tracks, causing the suspension to be tore from the vehicle, as well as the muffler/exhaust system and other miscellaneous damage to the bottom of the car, No keys were left with the vehicle to lock the car, as the customer took them at the time of the incidentThe registered owner of the vehicle did not speak to the tow company at the time of the towThe vehicle was not currently registered, causing the police to initially set the vehicle up for impoundIf the customer was current on registration, this might not have happenedPolice request of a tow for impound supersedes customer request of a tow delivery location due to negligence of registration
When the vehicle was in the tow yard, vandals/thieves cut our fence and vandalized several cars, The yard is fenced and we can only control crime so muchWe do have a sign posted at our office that states: We are not responsible for: Theft in the tow yards, Vandalism in or out of the cars, Damage in or out of the cars, Fire in or out of the tow yard, Personal property left in cars Please see our enclosed copy of the police report stating that there were no items of value left in vehicle, only miscellaneous paper documentsPolice do check thru cars searching for drugs, or alcohol or paraphernalia due to circumstances
As for the charge of the tow, it is difficult to hook up and remove a vehicle, any vehicle, when the suspension is broken or wrapped around an item such as train tracksIt is not just pull up to a car and hook it up
