I shopped this business on 04/15/2019 at approximately 4:30.
I asked a employee who identified herself as Krystal for the price of some fish ( Roseline sharks app 6 inches long) which did not have a price with the description.
She stated they had just came in that day and she would have to check with the stores fish buyer who was busy with a customer. Approximately a minute later another employee came from the direction of the fish buyer and asked if we were asking about the Roseline sharks and stated they were $23.99 plus a 35% markdown.
He walked away and approximately a minute later another employee came over and asked us if we had inquired about the Roseline sharks. He again stated the price was $23.99 plus the 35% markdown and he remained with us as we asked questions and talked about them. He stated some were a little pale as they just came in that day.
As we were preparing to purchase five of these,Krystal, the original employee I contacted came over and stated they will be $44.99
I asked her why we were quoted $23.99 twice and she was now telling us a much higher price. She stated they previously sold for $23.99 and the new price will be $44.99
I asked to speak to a manager and she stated she was the manager and would not honor the price I was quoted twice. I asked to speak with the owner who I recognized upon entering the business and she said he was in a meeting. She took my info for him to call and then she refused to give me the corporate office number.
Needless to say I did not get a call back because I believe she never gave him the message and when I called back she stated she gave my info to the general manager to contact me, which never happened.
I believe this is a very bad business practice and probably falls under bait and switch.
I have a Ohio atty. General complaint on this also # WT
The fish in question were not 6 inch fish. We do not get roseline sharks in that big. They were 3 to 4 inch.
The customer was told by the manager on duty that she was going to go find the price for the fish and the customer decided to ignore that and engage with other staff members. In talking to my staff he was told the smaller ones usually sell for the 29 dollar price range. No one quoted a price on the new fish. As it stands it is just as well that the customer didn't buy the fish as they broke down with a bacterial infection that resulted in us losing most of the fish and the others are in our hospital area now.
We did not bait and switch anything.
