We hired Aquatic Coatings of Texas "Steve" in April 2014 to resurface our fiberglass pool. The pool was "painted" with a blue paint, although Steve stated that he used the highest grade "gel coats" and fiberglass "resins". While we were at work, he completed the painting and then filled the pool water. When we got home we noticed several areas of concern. There were paint brush strokes and bubbles of paint that were peeling. After several attempts to contact Steve by phone/text/email, he finally responded and came out 2 days later and did small touch ups on the areas that we addressed and asked for payment. We were not completely satisfied with the quality of the paint and expected that a clear gel coat would be applied. However, the pool was already filled and we told him that we would expect a touch-up the following summer. Steve acknowleged this and said that he backed up his work with a 10 year "unconditional" warranty. The same statement is also on our invoice receipt. Although we were very hesitant to pay full price for a mediocre job, we paid the balance of $2800.
Last weekend we emptied the pool to clean and add fresh water for the summer season. We noticed several areas that are faded and peeling. We contacted Aquatic Coatings of Texas on the following Monday (04/06/15) and explained to the Associate the issues w/ the pool and that it was emptied/cleaned and we would like to schedule an appt for someone to come and touch-up the pool before we fill w/water. She apologized and stated that she understood and didn't see that there would be a problem. She stated that Steve would call back and schedule a time to come to our home. That evening Steve texted my husbands phone and stated "You can go ahead and fill the pool." My husband responded "There are areas that need to be repaired/touched-up, before we re-fill the pool water". He did not receive any other response. He has contacted the office and Steve's cell several times throughout the week. We have yet to receive a call-back.
We are very disappointed with the Customer Service and Steve's failure to respond to our concerns. We feel that they have "false advertising" regarding the 10 year unlimited warranty. All we wanted was a few area's touched-up, so that we can refill our pool and felt that it was not an unreasonable request. If Aquatic Coatings is not going to stand-behind their "10 year warranty", then they should not advertise this on their website.
