Arbor Barber Management Group Reviews (%countItem)

We found John *** company on Angies List and called him for an estimate for removal of 21 trees in May 2020. He came and seemed polite. He provided a quote for $8700 and left. Later that day he called and asked us what we wanted to do. We said we wanted to wait for other quotes. He started being aggressive and said he's pulling his estimate if we don't go with him immediately. My parents are elderly and they agreed because of John's pressure tactics and sent him the signed estimate. We changed our mind later that day and told John we don't want him to do the work. John threatened to take legal action to enforce his signed contract. John *** acts like a used car salesman and was very aggressive with us to get the job done. He also overcharged us for the job which was to remove small ash trees and should not have cost $8700. We will never use him again.

I was found by them on both Angies List and on Homeadvisor. I went to the address, met with the this man's mother the owner of the property. She told me that she was very experienced in getting quotes as she owned 50 apartment buildings and knew how much tree work costs.
With that, she and I spent the nest hour marking and remarking trees. Many trees that where dead in her yard where not marked as she didn't want to cut those down. After I explain the cost, taxes and work procedures to her, she explained to me that they where going to seek other estimates. That concluded our meeting. Later that day She contacted me by phone and said " let's just do it, I want to get it done". I thanked her and asked for the 10% deposit by credit card and I waived the fees. She provided that to me and I charged the deposit $700. This made a legal contract. She than ask me to do the work as soon as possible. To which I responded that I would try to start the next day but had just scheduled a Saturday job right before she called, if I could I would send them over in the afternoon. She than texted me on several occasions asking if we would be able to do it and how excited she was to get this work done.
Than I received an email from someone I think the person that wrote this review. They wanted to cancel. The contracts can not be canceled. It is a signed legal document. This is a document that we have been using for years. Written by an attorney. Her Son was upset and acting at first as though he was her--- after a few emails back and forth They decided to proceed with the contracted work. He was already threatening to leave a bad review because I would not let them out of the Contract. My crews went to the job in the morning where I met them.
My foreman immediately came to my truck door to tell me that the Son *** was making demands that we cut all the dead trees down or we couldn't do the work and had to leave.
Mr. was standing in the driveway so I went to meet him to find out the new issue.
He started with the fact he was upset that his mother wanted this work done at her home and that he used some other trees service for all the other tree work they do and that they owned 50 apartment complexes and why was the price what is was and why all the dead trees were not included.
I said to him that I gave a price for 21 trees to be removed and that I gave them a fair price. I said, " Sir what can I do here to make you happy and get a good review?" His reply was "I want these other dead trees that where not marked removed and I will give you a good review". I of course said to him. "Let's go around again and I will look at the trees you want done, I will give you a value for them and we can decide what to do". That is what we did. He picked out 6 additional dead trees that he wanted removed. I told him the value of the trees was $1500. BUT, I said," If I cut these down and your happy with the work and you give us a good review I will do them for FREE!! " He agreed. Then he said that his Mom was having the invisible fence Guys come out and put in the fence while we where working. WOW! We had to work around them. They where very nice to us after that. By the way, there was a very limited parking area for this job, so they offered to let us park on their driveway, nice of them.
We completed the work using 2 tree climbers, a track lift, a bobcat for moving the debris in the yard to the road and several groundsman, my Foreman went to her to ask if there was anything else they want done if not, they were done. He asked if they are satisfied and happy with the work we did. If they where, they would pack up and leave. They said they where happy and satisfied with everything and there was nothing else they wanted done.
I was not there at that time so no payment was collected.
We also cut down a dead tree on the property line for the Neighbor. An he was Very Happy!
The day I called to say I would stop by for the final payment. When I arrived I asked her again if she was satisfied with my crew and the work we did. She said "YES" I ask again if she would give me a good review in consideration for the 6 extra trees a $1500 value, I gave to her in the effort to make them happy. She said "Yes", I then asked her for the payment.
She paid us.
Obviously, I was mislead to believe I would get a good review. He, the Son, posted bad reviews. Not fair and not right. Who does that kind of business?
We gave them an outstanding job under very harsh conditions, we gave them more than they paid for. They where satisfied and happy but vengeful because Mom signed a contract but the Son wanted to get out of it. Further, because He couldn't Bully his way out of the Contract. He then Bullied me into giving him/them $1500 more work than they paid for in exchange for the good review that my crew worked so hard to get and never got. Not fair and not right.
