Arbor Trace Apartments, L.L.C.

My complaint is regarding charges after moving out. The charges are to damage that was not caused by my or the other tenant.
I had moved into the apartment by taking over a lease January 2012. I was asked my management to notify them of the current damages at the time. I called the office and stated that the carpet was dirty and had a burn and the drip pans on the stove were rusted. I re-signed this lease with another tenant in August 2012 and no inspection was done, which I have been told several times that inspections are made at the beginning of the lease. We moved out in May 2013.

In July 2013, my previous roommate and I were sent to collections for damages to the apartment. [redacted] management emailed me a copy of the security deposit settlement. The date of our move in date was 7/2011 to 5/2013, even though we signed a new lease in 8/2012. We are being charged for the carpet and the drip pans, which I clearly notified management when I was asked of any current damages at my move in date.
The manager at this location did not hold this position at this time. The new manager is claiming that when I sign on a lease, I take the apartment as is. This was not my understanding at the time of my move in. Otherwise, I would not agree to take the charges of a damaged apartment, especially one with a carpet burn.

Lastly, I asked for photos of our apartment after our final move out date. We are being charged for 2 bedroom blinds. In the photos, the blinds are in great condition. Also, one of the blinds in the master bedroom were replaced and are brand new.
