Arcadia Construction Enterprise

I entered in a contract with Arcadia Construction to do a small remodel of my kitchen, mid/early June. He started the work and was really only doing part of a demo, and leaving half the trash in my garage, and then he painted my cabinets. So at the start I started to worry about his workmanship. After asking him several times about his paint process, because if you don't paint cabinets right they chip and look terrible after a period of time. He assured me he was a master cabinet painter and his process will make my cabinets chip free. As soon as he collected 85% of the contractual amount upon painting my cabinets; He never called to come back..there is still a substantial amount of work to be done, my kitchen has holes, trash and demo is in my garage, my cabinets feel like sandpaper and they are already chipping. I called him a week and half later to see when he was going to come back, he said he was going to knock out the list, and he came by, but only put a couple of drywall sheets up and left and said he was going to come back on Friday. So over that weekend my husband and I started to clean and finish up his demo and work. I texted him (and my designer) and explained that he needs to give me a list and amounts of the work his done, because the scope has changed since he is not completed the work and some of the work he's done I've had to have fixed. He called me right away, and stated that we should walk away and he'd give me any monies owed. I'm super happy, and this is agreeable to me. I told him to bring his list of stuff he's completed, and I listed the work he's done at the time. It's like four items, shouldn't be difficult, including the bad paint job. I had got contractors/painters in my house before this meeting, and they said it's going less to buy new doors because they needed to be stripped and painted to start over! That is tedious work. They all said it was the worst cabinet job they've ever seen. I wanted to show him the cabinets to get the look and feel of the bad workmanship. It looks as if they've only been primed is the best I can describe. I needed him to see what needed to be done in order to make my once solid wood cabinets paintable again. We set up this meeting and he did not bring over his list (its very short), but a lawyer/mediator (so he says) which is fine....because this guy needs backup. He lied, & he lied, and lied some more. So I asked them to leave (not so southernly) they did not come over to try and bring a list and come up with a dollar amount to refund me. So fast forward to yesterday. There as a small amount of paint left over from the cabinet job. I painted a piece of wood, it looks terrible. I was told only the best paint was used $80 a can at Benjamin Moore. I called Benjamin Moore. Explained my situation gave him the info on the can. He asked me if they sprayed the wood. I said yes. He says that paint specifically states that you are not allowed to use paint thinner to use in sprayers. In doing so that would ruin the paint. I have pictures of them only spraying the cabinets. He also said that that is no $80 a can paint. Try $40-50. I texted *** of Arcadia Construction right away and no response. I should also note, that a designer was involved so I have someone else who has kept scrupulous notes and witnessed a lot of the oral transactions and written. I can substantiate every claim. This is a small sliver of my problem....but I was willing to negotiate a fair amount for work completed, which was minimal, repair the work or pay to remedy the work he finished, walk away and be done with him. He did not act in good faith, did not back up the work he's done and received over $10K.
