I received an email from Mr. [redacted] on September 23, 2015 stating that he had attempted to opt-out of our emails and that he had continued to receive them. I immediately researched the problem and found that a partner of ours had been emailing...

Mr. [redacted]. By 5:30 the same day I confirmed that Mr. [redacted] had an opt-out status in both our databases and our partner.
I emailed Mr [redacted] the same day and apologized for our error and to assure him that he in now opted out of our internal and our partner's databases. Our partner also left a voice mail the same day, September 23 apologizing for the error. Unfortunately the partner could not track how they had originally obtained Mr. [redacted]'s email address. We are working across our partner's systems to find and eliminate the source of the initial problem.
We have over 43,000 customers and over 100,000 legitimately opted-in receivers of our email communications. We are diligent about data governance. We are very sorry to have bothered Mr. [redacted] in the first place and that he was not immediately opted-out upon his first request. He is Opted out now.
