Thank you for forwarding this complaint and giving me an opportunity to provide the full picture on this engine rebuild The customer requested Master Engine rebuild an engine that was damaged through overheating The engine was rebuilt according to our agreement and picked up by the customer on November 18th He with the help of a friend did their own engine install offsite On Sunday November 19th our service Manager received a number of calls at home from this customer looking for guidance He advised they had installed the engine and let it run for minutes and then noted the engine was overheating The service manager asked did they bleed the coolant system The customer said no they did not know they had to do same He advised it is necessary to bleed the coolant system after the engine has been rebuilt hence the reason for the overheating A knowledgeable mechanic knows bleeding the coolant system is a requirement after an engine rebuild The customer was told to bring the vehicle to the shop and we would have a look at it ,this the customer did In an effort to help the customer the coolant system was bled while at the shop and a used radiator cap was installed because his was faulty Both were done at no cost to the customer Unfortunately this did not help because the damage was already done by the customer who was trying to save money doing his own install Our specialty here is engine rebuilds over a year % of our customers ask us to do the complete job to ensure the vehicle is running fine before it leaves our shop This customer was offered the same service but elected to do his own install The customer's invoice outlines a year warranty with specific notation "warranty does not cover overheating" The customer acknowledged this by signing below the notation We do offer free towing for vehicles wherein a complete job is done not those where the engine alone is brought to us
Mr [redacted] description of events surronding this engine rebuild was reviewed with the service manager who confirmed the customer's 1st sentence is correctHowever what followed is not an accurate outline of events The 1st call on Sunday to the service manager was about a clattering noise and he was told to let the engine run for minutes and the lifters would pump up and the noise would would go awayMr [redacted] called back later and confirmed the noise did go away At that time he said there was steam coming from the engine wherein the service manager asked if they had bled the coolant system Mr [redacted] response was "No" he didn't know he had toThe problem rests here not improper assembly or wrong head gaskets Overheating will blow the head gaskets Further in an effort to help this customer we did bleed the coolant system, installed a thermostat and changed the radiator cap We did not charge the customer In conclusion we strive to have satisfied customers and feel we went above and beyond to help this customer even though we did not create the problem Lastly we did offer to replace the head gaskets at a discounted price of $750, some % off our list price This offer still stands
I contacted master engine because my engine was knocking NOT overheatingThe cooling system was fine prior to master engine serviceDuring the rebuild the service manager called and said the knocking in the engine was due to a blown valve and valve springAfter the rebuild I contracted my mechanic with over years of experienceHe first pulled the engine and then reinstalled itWhen he turned the engine over it was knocking and displayed symptoms prior to the rebuildMy mechanic was concerned and tried to diagnose the problemHe also tried to bleed the system at this point following proper bleeding procedures.I called the service manager about the knocking noise and not about overheating as we did not give the vehicle enough time to run hot.He told me to run the engine for minutes and that the knocking would subsideI did as he suggested and turned it off after minutes because the temp gauge climbed above the mid pointThe temp never got passed the 3/mark and never reached a temp to damage the new head gasketsI called the service manager and he said it needed a new thermostatI told him I had already replaced the thermostatHe said his thermostat was better and that he would replace it and re-bleed the cooling system for a feeHe guaranteed it would fix the issueI then had the vehicle towed to the shop. Two days later the service manager called me to say I must have blown the new head gasketsHe assumed this was the issue as he did not disassemble the engine to diagnose it correctlyImproper assembly or wrong head gaskets can obstruct cooling flow, hence not being able to bleed the cooling system and causing overheating the vehicle did not present prior to the rebuildI went to the shop to resolve the matter and the service manager told me it was my fault and that he wished he could help and chose not to honor the year warrantyI took the vehicle to another car repair shop and have a printed letter head stating the heads are not blown
Your response is invalid and the reason is because when you buy or take over a business you don't get the option of deciding which customers you are going to work for and which situations you are going to handle. You should of had all these outstanding issues handled and closed out before buying the business because they are you're issues to now handle. You might not have purchased the shares of the warranty work but if you bought the business then you don't need to purchase them because you inherited them. Also, just to let you know the work I'm trying to get done by you guys isn't warranty work in the first place. I'm still trying to get you guys to handle the original contract. I have never had either truck running longer then 24hours. It sounds like you guys are trying to pull a fast one over on all the customers especially when the old owner is still down in the shop and making the calls still. Just last week when I was on the phone w/Eddie I could still hear him in the back ground barking order and telling Eddie he doesn't have room at your shop for another truck. So if you really bought the business on August 14th, 2017 then that's the same thing as buying the business on the day they opened a few years ago. So this is you're responsible now! I have 1 truck sitting down at Ford waiting for you to address because you guys screwed up my block in that truck and Ford is telling me all cylinders are leaking greater then 12% and you guys made a huge score mark inside cylinder #7 that won't allow the truck engine to be rebuilt. Please don't try telling me somebody else could have done it because that isn't the case. You guys were the only ones that touched that truck since you guys did the tear down to inspect the engine to make sure I had a working core. '
To whom it may concern, We have an ad that says "easy financing" we work with a company called Easy pay finance. It's not up to us how much they get qualified for with that company. We never fix the car unless the customer agrees to the final price of the fix which in this case was $3000...
because the car needed more parts for it to be fixed. The customer agreed and allowed us to do the job. My business doesn't have a payment plan option and if you don't pay you will be charged a $25 per day storage fee for each day that it is not payed for after the job is finished.
Response: This customer brought his car into my shop to get fixed after he agreed on the estimate we gave him. we never touched the car or did any repairs to it. He called us and let us know that he wanted to remove his vehicle from my shop and wanted to get it done elsewhere. We told him that was...
fine and that he could come and get his car whenever he wanted to. Around 5 weeks later the car was still sitting in my shop and was never picked up. The customer ended up bringing the cops to my place saying that I didn’t want to return the car to him. He took the car and we never heard back from him.
They never did a credit application to see if I would qualify for ‘easy credit’. They never offered to buy my car as advertised. They just threatened to take me to Court if I didn't pay immediately.Alan W[redacted]
I will forward the email to the previous owner Akram F[redacted] as I have no knowledge of this file. For the record I took over this business on August 14th and will be responsible for handling any issues that may arise from that date onwards. Regarding his request to pull the ad from New Times that is not acceptable as it is our main source of advertising. I did however change the ad the first week here based on recommendations from Revdex.com.Best Regards

the customer on November 18th. He with the help of a friend did their own engine install offsite. On Sunday November 19th our service Manager received a number of calls at home from this customer looking for guidance . He advised they had installed the engine and let it run for 30 minutes and then noted the engine was overheating. The service manager asked did they bleed the coolant system . The customer said no they did not know they had to do same. He advised it is necessary to bleed the coolant system after the engine has been rebuilt hence the reason for the overheating. A knowledgeable mechanic knows bleeding the coolant system is a requirement after an engine rebuild. . The customer was told to bring the vehicle to the shop and we would have a look at it ,this the customer did . In an effort to help the customer the coolant system was bled while at the shop and a used radiator cap was installed because his was faulty. Both were done at no cost to the customer. Unfortunately this did not help because the damage was already done by the customer who was trying to save money doing his own install . Our specialty here is engine rebuilds over 300 a year. 95 % of our customers ask us to do the complete job to ensure the vehicle is running fine before it leaves our shop. This customer was offered the same service but elected to do his own install. The customer's invoice outlines a 1 year warranty with specific notation "warranty does not cover overheating" The customer acknowledged this by signing below the notation. We do offer free towing for vehicles wherein a complete job is done not those where the engine alone is brought to us .
Mr [redacted] description of events surronding this engine rebuild was reviewed with the service manager who confirmed the customer's 1st sentence is correct. However what followed is not an accurate outline of events. The 1st call on Sunday to the service manager was about a clattering noise and he was told to let the engine run for 45 minutes and the lifters would pump up and the noise would would go away. Mr [redacted] called back later and confirmed the noise did go away . At that time he said there was steam coming from the engine wherein the service manager asked if they had bled the coolant system. Mr [redacted] response was "No" he didn't know he had to. The problem rests here not improper assembly or wrong head gaskets. Overheating will blow the head gaskets. Further in an effort to help this customer we did bleed the coolant system, installed a thermostat and changed the radiator cap . We did not charge the customer . In conclusion we strive to have satisfied customers and feel we went above and beyond to help this customer even though we did not create the problem. Lastly we did offer to replace the head gaskets at a discounted price of $750, some 40 % off our list price. This offer still stands.
This is the biggest lie ever and the shop needs closed permanently as they are taking advantage of people. Not only I'd they touch my 4runner, they disassembled the whole top end of the engine to replace heads and cams. They then attempted to charge me for new heads and cams and told me to pick up the vehicle that it was done. When. I came to pick up the truck, it was pouring oil and was running far worse than when it was brought in. Told them this was not acceptable. They took the engine appart agian, however this time, I required to see the parts before install to verify that they were indeed new. They weren't! They were my old parts! I then called the police and had the vehicle removed from their shop on a tow truck with everything disassembled! Don't let them continue to do this to customers.
