I am a 57 year old male,I was a happy patient for 14 years. a crown they put on 14 years ago, fell off and needed a new one made, which is normal for the life of a crown. the molar had a root canal on it 14 years ago, before the crown,so I was in no pain at all.
they told me they needed to do gum surgery on the tooth,to cut away some of the gum,and grind away some of the bone,to make room for the new crown on the molar.( crown lengthening) never having this done before, and needing time to mentally prepare for this, as it sounded no fun,I said ok,do a written pre authorization to the insurance company to be sure its covered. ( like they had done 3-4 x before on crowns and fillings) I said the old crown has been off 2 weeks,I'm in no pain,I just won't eat on that side of my mouth a bit longer.
but no,being the money hungry outfit they are, they said they called, and its covered,I pay $250,insurance pays $250,no problem they said. and it just so happened the guy who could do the surgery could do it on the spot. I bit the bullet and got er done, its not that bad a procedure. then the insurance company rejects it,and now because its out of network ,its $1200 not $500,and I have to pay it all. I tried for weeks to pay em the $500 the insurance company was going to,but they insisted on the full $1200.
I trusted these people,I was a 14 year patient. I should have known something was up when my wife and 2 grown daughters left here,5 years ago. they were always telling them they needed work done, and we all had insurance so no biggie. they found a new dentist 5 years ago,the work did not need to be done on them, and has not been done.
I am a businesss man,and belong to a reputable barter organization,I could have traded the gum surgery, with any of the 5 perio surgeons in the barter group, and used up some of the $40,000 in barter I have in my acct,if premier had just done as I asked, and got the written approval vs the phone approval. the problem is when thomas and thomas, became premier dental, thats when they became an out for money only outfit. they have an oral surgeon and periodontal surgeon in the same office now. and they are just drumming up work and money for premier dental. in my 57 years and 39 in phoenix, this is my first ever negative review I have ever posted anywhere,I'm a very easy going guy
