Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 9, 2016/03/02) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
It is my position that Mr. W[redacted] response is not acceptable and the following paragraphs explan why...
I think it was late March or early April 2015 when I originally called MRG to get an estimate to repair the leak around the chimney, I spoke directly to Mr. Anthony W[redacted]. Mr. W[redacted] told me that he would come over and look at the problem. Instead of him, a Mr. Shane H[redacted] showed up driving a MRG work truck. He told me he worked for MRG. Mr. H[redacted] told me that he had been sent over by Mr. W[redacted] to check out the job. He went up on roof to inspect the leaking area around the chimney. After discussing how the repair would be made we agreed on a guaranteed repair for $1400.00 cash. He returned the next day with a helper driving a MRG truck and they made repairs. I paid Mr. H[redacted] the agreed amount of $1400.00 in cash, and he gave me a signed MRG receipt form (which I have) dated 4/20/15 with 10 year warranty on labor noted.
During the summer my wife and I spend most of our time at our lake house at [redacted]. So it was later in the summer when I noticed that the leak had not been fixed, I called MRG, spoke with Mr. W[redacted] and he told me that he was not aware of the job and that Mr. H[redacted] no longer worked there but that he would stand behind the work. Mr. W[redacted] came over 2 times to work on the repair but the leak was never stopped. So I kept calling him; and when he answered he said he would be back, but he never showed up again. I kept calling and left messages over a several month period but he never returned calls nor did he come back. Finally I stopped calling.
It is my believe that Mr. H[redacted] was in fact an employee of MRG when he gave me the estimate, made the repair, received my payment, and gave me a written MRG receipt. It is also my believe that Mr. W[redacted] is responsible for the work performed by his MRG employees whether they are current or passed employees. Mr. W[redacted]'s response to my original submittal indicates to me that he might have had an employee that was doing work and putting the money is his pocket. This might have been the case. However, that is an issue to be resolved between Mr. W[redacted] and Mr. H[redacted]. Fact is that I paid an MRG employee $1400.00 for a repair that was never made and I have the MRG receipt to prove it.
Since the leak was never stopped and I made many attempts to contact MRG to get them to stand behind their warranty, I now feel it is only reasonable and fair to seek a full refund.
I am hoping that since MRG is a member of the Revdex.com, that the Revdex.com complaint process would motivate MRG to take full responsibility and comply with my request. It is my understanding that only the contractors that are honest and reputable are allowed to become Revdex.com members. I am trusting that to be the case and hope that as a Revdex.com member MRG will step up and do the right thing.

Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 18, 2016/03/29) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The response from the owner of MRC is not acceptable. His offer to "work to resolve this but will not give him his money back.." is too little too late. When he stopped taking my calls months ago I had no choice but to seek out a reputable roofing contractor and finally got the leak repaired. To expand on the statement made by the owner of MRG, he did tell me that I needed a new roof and that a new roof would solve my problem even though I had no leaks other than around the chimney. However, later I had my roof inspected by a trained roof inspector and was told that my existing roof was good for another 6 to 8 years.
" It is apparent that the owner of MRG is not going to honor his company warranty which in this case guaranteed to stop the leak around my chimney. His position is that he is not responsible for the actions nor the work performed by his employee. The owner claims that since the work was performed by an employee without his knowledge and since that employee is now fired, MRG is not responsible. Fact is that I paid a MRG employee (sent to my home by the owner) $1400.00 in cash. I paid in cash because during discussion regarding the original estimate given to me which was $1600.00 and when I remarked that that appeared to be a lot of money the MRG employee told me that he could reduce the estimate by $200.00 if I paid cash. I assumed that this was a normal MRG business procedure and since it saved me $200.00, that is why I paid him in cash rather than by check. When the job was finished, the employee gave me a receipt on a MRG printed form indicating that he received the $1400.00 and that the work was guaranteed for 10 years. The owner of MRG claims he never authorized the work performed by this employee and the owner claims he never received the money, therefore, he is not responsible for any refund.
The MRG owner stated in his last response that he is willing to work with me but will not give my money back. While I appreciate that the owner did come over two times to work on the leaking area and during one of his visits he also told me that he would stand behind the work. Which was not the case. But light of his initial commitment to make things right, I would be willing to consider accepting a partial refund of $700.00. Any other commitment to "work with him to resolve this"... has no value since I had to pay out additional money to have the leak fixed.
I was hopeful to get an acceptable resolution using the process offered by the Revdex.com but it does not appear possible. I am stead fast in my position that MGR took my money but did not deliver the guaranteed results. The owner is refusing a full refund but in light of his initial response to make it right, I would be willing to compromise.
I appreciate this opportunity offered by Revdex.com but unless the owner of MRG agrees on a monetary refund, there is no reason to continue this process.
My next option is to seek satisfaction from MRG using the legal process. I believe that I am the injured party in this situation and will not give up.

It is apparent to me that the owner is not going to honor his companies guarantee. His reasons being that the employee performed the work and received payment without his knowledge.

I would highly recommend this company. They are professional, knowledgeable and dedicated to good customer service. They provided an excellent design and quality craftsmanship on my landscape project.
