My husband and I have been re-building our credit for the past several years We finally felt we were in a position where we could confidently apply for In-store financing and be able to add the monthly monetary obligation In our years of marriage, we had never been able to buy brand-new quality furniture We'd always stuck with second hand stores and the pressboard type furniture you find from department stores There is nothing wrong with that kind of furniture, it's just that we were having to replace it almost yearly We always figured we would upgrade when our kiddo(s) were old enough to respect the furniture We have had our eyes on a particular set of living room furniture for more than a year, and finally our break-even point would allow for a new monthly bill that wasn't based on a necessity (We've made mistakes in the past and didn't think of the long term monetary obligation and the "what if..." factor, and ended up in financial distress credit wise So after careful planning, we were finally ready, yeah!) Once again, YEAH! The day came when we went to the local furniture store not just to look but to buy We already knew what we were there for, the item numbers, color and fabric, as well as exactly where it was in the store We asked for our original sales contact and it was confirmed by a manager that they no longer worked there We included our new sales associate in our excitement and why we were so excited and they became excited with us Our first BRAND NEW furniture of our decade long marriage Soon we were filling out the store finance application, we were very open and honest about our credit and in turn our sales associate was very informative and reassuring that we could make something happen Here is where Heights Finance comes in, so thanks for sticking with me thus far (It was the Friday after Thanksgiving, so a very busy time and by now it was around 2pm I* *** * ** * *** *** ** *** *** *** *** *** *** ** *** *** *** *** ** *** ** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ** ** *** *** ** *** *** ** *** *** *** *** Unfortunately, we were turned down for In-store financing and our sales person explained in detail, not just by telling us but by showing us the report on which the decision was made My husband just graduated college and had over *** in student loans we were making monthly payments on The store's Credit Department claimed the student loans were too much obligation Then we were told about their "Second chance" option, Heights Finance It was explained in great detail how Heights Finance worked for those with less than ideal credit and if approved would approve us for a certain amount which may or may not be enough to cover the whole set They also had a higher interest rate than the In-store financing, which is quite typical for finance companies that provide credit for higher risk clients We were approved for enough to get of the pieces of living room furniture Once everything was tallied up, we realized the monthly payment was more than we were comfortable with, so after some consideration and more calculations, we decided to just start with one piece and go piece by pieceWe were put on a month contract, of course with the ability to pay off early with no penalty We also were given an initial month interest free time period I was hoping I would be able to utilize and pay it off in those months, but we are just going to have to stick with the plan and pay it down every few months I mentioned the interest rate after those months is higher, but once again, that is very common amongst companies lending to higher risk clientele Our 24% interest rate is actually lower than other companies we have researched Moving on, nothing was hidden in fine print, all our questions were answered I didn't get an uneasy vibe from Heights Finance Our contact stayed later than office hours Came in on Saturday when they are normally closed and even had our final paperwork ready for us to sign on Sunday and brought it to our furniture store This may not mean a whole lot to some people, but I feel he went above and beyond to help make one of our dreams come true *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ** *** *** ** *** *** *** *** * *** ** *** * *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** * *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ** *** *** *** *** *** *** ** *** ** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ** *** *** *** *** *** *** ** *** *** ** *** *** ** *** *** *** *** *** *** ** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ** *** *** ** *** *** ** *** *** *** *** ** ** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ** *** *** *** *** ** *** *** ** *** *** *** *** *** * *** *** *** *** *** *** ** ** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** * *** *** *** ** *** *** *** *** ***} Before signing any contracts, make sure to do your research on the company you are working with so that you know, you will receive the customer service and care you deserve Also, if you ever feel you will start having difficulties with your payment obligation, do not wait until the last minute to contact your financial institute Let them know as soon as possible, so that something can be worked out Life happens and often there are complications beyond our control, this is understandable The more open and honest you are with them, the more they are with you Thank you for reading this and thank you Heights Finance of Eau Claire, WI
