I am distressed to hear about this problem as well This is not how I run my business When MsHawn had contacted me the day after this incident, I had talked to my staff and was informed that the dog had expressed its anal glands while the staff was trying to place and e-collar around his neck I called MsHawn back and told her what I had been told by my staff I also told her that was probably the cause of the smell and that I was told by my staff that the dog had not urinated in the cage as the towel from cage was dry She seemed fine with that and did not mention at the time that the dog was wet If she had informed me that the dog was wet then I would have pursued the matter further with my staff Maybe, I misunderstood her at the time I have, after being informed of this, revisited the issue with the staff members involved I have punished them with verbal warnings I do apologize for this inciden, as once again the comfort of our patients is my number one concern Furthermore all animals here for surgery are supposed to be walked before surgery If they have an accident post-op, which can happen as they are still partially sedated, then they should be cleaned up immediately That is our policy and unfortunately we have suffered some staff turnover this year and we are trying to bring new stuff up to standards, which is sometimes difficult If you have any questions about this please feel free to contact me.
