Review: On Friday, August *, 2015, my boyfriend and I decided to have drinks at the Bryant Park Caf, which is managed by the Bryant Park Grill. We sat down at the bar around 10 p.m. and a few minutes later, the bartender said it was last call, and served us drinks. I am a retail executive; my boyfriend recently left a professorship in physics at Columbia to pursue independent research. We frequent the caf, since my apartment is nearby. Within 5-10 minutes of us being served, a man approached us and told us we had to leave immediately, despite the fact that many people around us were still eating and finishing their drinks. Since we had just paid for the drinks and wanted to finish them, we moved to tables near the bar where others were eating and drinking. The gentleman then followed us and said, "[redacted]!" He then threatened to call the police, at which point we, both very confused as to why we were being harassed, suggested he should do so, since all we wanted to do was quietly finish our cocktails. He left, and brought another gentleman with him. They yelled in our faces for several minutes as we sat at our table, and continuously escalated the situation even though my boyfriend and I were both behaving in a very calm manner. The situation then climaxed in one of the men raising his hand like he was going to strike me, and knocking my drink out of my hand onto the ground. He then attempted to do the same to my boyfriend, attempting to wrestle his beer from him. My boyfriend remained calm and did not verbally or physically engage with either man. Stunned, I went inside and attempted to find a manager; the staff took down my name and number but no one followed up. I have lived in Manhattan for fifteen years and have never been treated so poorly in ANY establishment, restaurant or otherwise. These individuals verbally harassed us and made me feel physically threatened. It was one of the baffling experiences of my life.Desired Settlement: I would like an apology to both me and my boyfriend from the manager of the Bryant Park Caf and/or grill, a refund for our round of drinks, and their assurance that they will train their staff to behave more professionally.
