Armel Jewelers Reviews (%countItem)

Poor customer service response from company regarding an item purchased from their store that now requires service/repair under warranty.
Men's Rolex Submariner watch(model 16613)purchased for $8550.00 from the store's estate collection. The salesperson told me it was a 1999 model and had been refurbished by Rolex within the last year. I was told it would come with a box, appraisal,& 2 year warranty. Per Rolex, the bezel requires replacement now. Armel will not assist other than to tell me to contact Rolex directly and see if I can get them to repair at my cost since Armel Jewelry is no longer an authorized Rolex dealer. Armel refuses to compensate me for any repair.

Desired Outcome

I am requesting Armel Jewelers to either repair the watch or offer an agreeable resolution. If not possible I would like a refund. The watch can not be worn as it is now. The repairs are estimated by Rolex to be between $1200.00 and $2000.00. The appraisal we were given has inaccurate information, the serial number is wrong. Also the appraisal indicates the age of the watch to be 2 yrs older than the sales receipt. Per the representative at Rolex, the watch has never been to Rolex for any service.

Armel Jewelers Response

All estate Rolex watches have been serviced by a watch technician who is trained by Rolex and has a parts account with them. As the sign states in the estate case, there is a one year warranty on this watch from date of purchase. The warranty covers all inner working parts of the watch i.3. the movement. It does not cover the outer parts which include the bracelet ,bezel, and crystal, as these are parts that can be damaged due to wear and tear. The customer did inform a staff member that he had caught the bezel on the edge of a table. We cannot assume responsibility for how a person wears their watch and the level of wear and tear. The appraisal misprint was an unfortunate typing error and the customer will be issued a new appraisal stating the correct year of the watch as stated on the sales slip with the correct serial number.

As of 1-9-2018, I have not received a corrected appraisal with correct identifying information for this watch.
Note, that the original/incorrect appraisal is stamped by the owner of the company, Michael Melnick's name. All (3) sales receipts from Armel Jewelers indicate this is a 1999 watch and the correct serial number indicates it is a 1997.
I have not received a written copy of the warranty
and the salesman, Bill verbally gave us a 2 year warranty No written warranty information came with the watch shipment.
No offer of any resolution or compromise has been offered by Armel Jewelers since we filed this claim. The salesman told us to deal with Rolex on our own and perhaps we could make a claim on our homeowners insurance. This is not an acceptable resolution.
Armel Jewelers had this watch for 6 weeks, during this period each time we spoke with their "watch expert" Heather, we were told they were looking into getting a "tighter" bezel since the bezel on the watch was loose. The bezel came off the watch after very gently hitting the edge of a chair. I currently have several watches with rotating bezels and have never had one come off. Not sure why they sent watch to Rolex, knowing that Rolex would not service for them as they are not authorized Rolex dealer and have not been for quite some time.
With all the inaccurate information and lack of help or compromise from the business I feel that I was mislead in this transaction.

Here is what I want from Armel Jewelers

(1)pay for repair or replacement of the bezel, I will send to Rolex myself and Armel Jewelers to reimburse me for the bezel repair/replacement costs

(2) I want a correct and detailed appraisal that includes all of the correct descriptive details and serial numbers on the watch.

(3) a written copy of the warranty.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business and wishes to inform the business of this)
On Jan 15, 2018 I contacted Heather at Armel Jewelers and requested they mail my watch back to me. She advised that no written warranty information was available only that which is shown on the sales receipt and in the store display case. On January 16, 2018 I was contacted by the store owner, Michael M. who discussed the situation with me and made a reasonable offer to bring this issue to closure which I accepted. I appreciate his offer to remedy the situation and in reaching out to me.
The watch was delivered to my home 2 days later and a revised appraisal was included.
