Review: I bought an Armitron watch with a warranty. The screen quit working after 5 months. I called Armitron to see about the warranty and how to use it. (I didn't get any paperwork with the watch. It was missing from the case.) I was given the phone number of an authorized repair place on the west coast. No mention of a shipping and handling fee was made.
I called the number of [redacted], the shop they gave me the number for, and they told me their address and told me to "send it in and we'll take care of it". No shipping or handling fee was mentioned. I live out of state so I had to mail the watch.
I sent the watch, and a few days later [redacted] called me and requesting a credit card number so they could charge me the $9.95 fee. I refuse to pay the fee. I was not told about it before I sent the watch. If I had been told about it I would not have sent it. I would have just bought a new one, one that was not and Armitron, so it would last a little longer.
I requested that the [redacted], the warranty service provider given me by Armitron service department, return my watch in the package I sent it in. They refused unless I paid the fee. I have filed a complaint against [redacted] requesting they either return my watch, or they reimburse me for the $2.32 shipping it cost me to send it to them. It is unethical not to mention the $9.95 fee for warranty service, and neither [redacted] nor Armitron mentioned it. I also called Armitron back to complain about the fee and the lack of anyone disclosing the fee until after I had sent the watch. I was first told that Armitron had no control over the fee, but later in the call was told that they allowed the $9.95 fee.Desired Settlement: Between Armitron and [redacted], one of them should at least reimburse the $2.32 I spent to ship the watch to California. That still doesn't address the warranty issues or all the time and trouble over this, but I have already purchased a new watch so I don't really need another watch.
The original watch cost $22.49 plus tax. It had a 2 year warranty, I believe, and it only lasted 5 months. An 80% refund would be great.

Response:
We are truly sorry that [redacted] feels the outcome to repair her watch wasn't what she felt acceptable. We will be shipping the Customer a brand new watch via UPS.
The shipping and handling charge, of $9.95 is stated in our warranty, which is enclosed when purchasing our product. Again, we are sorry she felt this wasn't handled correctly.
The new watch will be shipping on Thursday (July [redacted]).
Thank you if you have any further questions, please email me at the email address above.
Best Regards,
