Armor Pest Defense Reviews (%countItem)

First, they knocked on my door despite my very clearly posted "No Soliciting" sign. My husband signed up for services.
The following month, they kept hitting my debit card for $1 at a time and they did it 10 times before I caught it and had to call them to tell them to stop.
The following month, I realized I had mice in my kitchen on a Saturday. Couldn't get ahold of anyone, paid another company $85 to come out. Called them on Monday. Said I've had mice since Saturday. They said, "We can have someone come out on Thursday." What, no. You should have been out here yesterday.
Tried to cancel services but unbeknownst to us we were "under contract" and they would have charged us $220 to cancel early. They said our contract would be up in August and we could cancel then.
Today is August 13th, tried to call and cancel, and they want $120 to cancel services.
Seriously??? Their business ethics are questionable.

Knock on my door during Covid19 stay at home is inexcusable.

First the salesman knocked my door to sell me the service I was not sure about it and the salesman offered me a discount on the first of 4 payments for a year contract to treat my house in and out and front and back yard he said o will get 4 payments of 109 dollars but since I was not sure he offered me the first payment for 49 dollars and I ask if after that will be just charged 3 more payments of 109 which he said yes
Well the dirt treatment was done fine everything as the salesman said all but one thing he offered to drill small holes on wall and spray inside the walls and didn't so ok the second time the guy showed and did almost everything like the first time and I got charge the second payment what was 109 the third time same the guy showed and just did spray the garage and arround the house and not the front or back yard and we ask why and he said it was to cold to do it ok they charge the 109 dollars
The next was the fourth treatment and the guy showed and he was at the front door and I tell him let me unlock the gate for you did walk to my back yard to unlock the gate when I did come arround to let him know that the gate was unlocked he was already coming out and said he did the back yard and tell me will I unlock the gate he did the front and ask him if he sprayed the yard he said no just spread granulated insecticide the thing is I got ring security cameras and only show whe he is walking out from the yard with the spreader on his back it take him 5 min to treat my entire house and did ask why he didn't spray my yard he said we don't ha the licences to doit so the first two times they did and now they don't have licences did call to complain about it jus to find out the going to charge me one more time 109 dollar because the lady said I got a contract
Till June which is true but when the guy showed at my house to sale me the service he tell me just 4 payments one discounted to 49 dollars and 3 more of 109 so I'm not happy about it beacase feel scam

We apologize for any misunderstanding. We did send an email and a phone call and both stated you would have one initial payment and 4 quarterly payments within the contract. The technician is correct we are only able to spray the foundation of your home 3 feet up and 3 feet out and granule your lawn 3 feet out. If anything is ever missed or you continue to see bugs we do offer free retreats. If you are having any pest problems please let us know. Our phone number is 208-957-6321. Have a great day!

I am rejecting this response because: this is not true

Why the technician did spray the lawn the first two times and now they said diferent thing

And second the reason why we agree to the service was beacase the salesman said the first payment of four will be discounted he never said about 5 payments we even ask him and said four payments total one of 49 dollars and 3 of 109

This company is a joke

Sincerely

We apologize if they did spray your yard, they are not suppose to due to the regulations we have. We will be speaking with them about this so it does not happen again. We apologize if you had any misinformation from our salesman. We do send out 3 forms of communication that states how our service works clearly so you can look over that and call the office before being locked into anything. Since you have already completed the 4 payments you are saying you were contracted for we have gone ahead and closed your account. Have a great day!

Stay Away! Totally misleading salesman, he had me sign an "authorization" to do the spraying but never showed me any contract. Company did an awful job initially and when they contracted me for a subsequent service I told them I did not want their services. Despite my clear statements I did not want anymore services and not allowing anything to be scheduled they billed and later claimed they did the spray despite no evidence of their having come out to the property (and my having a dog in backyard that would have prevented their entry). They are now trying to bill me again and pretending like I didn't already tell them last year I did not want their services. The salesman caught me at a moment of weakness at least now I have learned my lesson. They only take credit cards which I now know is so they can keep billing no matter what. Now I have to dispute charges, cancel my account, etc.

Salesman sold me on a trial "pest spraying" at $19.99. Future sprayings to be $119.99. He said I could cancel at any time before second spray at no cost. Second spray: October 2019. I received a voice mail (female) going over the same details, same statement about no fee for cancellation and that I would get a copy of the contract via email. Nothing ever arrived and the spraying did nothing to stop the ants! The guy who sprayed was here for all of 15 minutes for a "complete- yard, basement, garage, outside house! I called in September to cancel, because I am 76 and moving to an adult apartment. I was told I couldn't cancel without paying a fee. So I was LIED TO 2 times and got NO CONTRACT COPY. I refuse to pay! I got a new credit card so they couldn't charge off any further spraying. (I told them NOT to spray again, but they were adamant) They have received many complaints on the website for salesmen lying and cancellation fees being assessed.

We apologize for any misrepresentation made by our salesman. We show we do not have your email address on your account that is why you never received an email. When moving we do ask for a proof of move while you are still within contract to close the account I do show you called and spoke with us about that on October 2nd and refused to do so and hung up. We have gone ahead and closed your account today 10/7/2019. If there is anything we can help you with, please let us know. Have a great day!

This company is one of the worst companies ever. Their salesmen blatantly mislead customers about the services they provide. After admitting to lying and not providing service, they charge a “cancellation” fee in order to steal more money from the customer.

It is obvious after reading other reviews, Armor Defense isn’t licensed to remove anything. How then do they stay in business? Avoid this company the same way they avoid pest control.

The salesman, Logan, who sold this to annual service informed me that for the first year of signup for every quarterly treatment I should pay $49 which I did for the first treatment. However I was asked to pay $115 for the next treatment which was apparently their contract. There was no clear mention of that when I was signing from the salesman. The salesman seemed to be a fast talker and got the best of me. He should sit with the clients and inform them clearly of the forth-coming billing cycles. So I wanted to cancel my service upon which I was charged $150. I feel cheated and misinformed. I would like refund of my cancellation fee.
Apparently this firm conducts their business the same villainous way they treated me as I am reading many such 'Billing' related issues in Revdex.com.
PS: Even after the first treatment I still see a lot of spiders and wasps in my deck and basement.

Armor Pest Defense Response • Sep 03, 2019

We apologize for any misunderstanding between you and the salesman. After you do sign up and your information is saved in our system we automatically send you a text message, phone call and email in which they do explain how much the billing is and how often. We send those out to clear up any miscommunication. We do apologize if you were unable to read over those before your initial service. Unfortunately we do ask you pay what you were discounted on your initial service if you do not fallow through with the 12 month agreement that is where the cancellation fee of $150 came from. We do offer an unlimited service so if you are still seeing problems we can send a technician back to you home. We do guarantee our work and hope to be able to help you with your pest control problems.

I am rejecting this response because:I was not refunded the cancellation fee which the business could have done as a one-time courtesy.
Sincerely

I request my termination fee refunded. I was not told about a contract nor sent the contract terms in time to cancel before the contract started.
On 6/14/19 I signed up with a door to door salesman named Richard for a promotional deal. He did not explain that I would be locked into a one year contract. He did not mention an early termination fee. He did not show me the contract terms when I signed his phone. He then entered my email address wrong, so that I did not receive the contract with option to cancel before the tech arrived on 6/15/19. I only received the contract on 6/17/19. Once I did call to cancel on 6/18/19 I was charged an early termination fee of $85. I find this to be false advertising and request my $85 be refunded.

Armor Pest Defense Response • Aug 16, 2019

We apologize that your email was enter incorrectly. We do also send out a text message stating it is a contract and also a phone call that goes over everything about the account. We do show that those were both sent to you before the service was performed. We do also have notes from your phone call with us on 6/18/2019 that say you did tell us you received the information. Again we do apologize for the mistake with the email but are unable to refund the cancellation fee. We are able to discount the initial service down from $199 when you sign for a 12 month agreement. If you do cancel early we just ask you pay what was discounted. If you have any questions, please let us know. Have a great day!

We apologize that webs and nests were missed on your appointment. We do have free fallow up appointments so we would be more than willing to get our technician right back out to your home to address these problems. Unfortunately we are not licensed to treat for mosquitos but we are hoping to be able to added that service soon."?
I was visited by a technician 3 days ago & promised mosquito treatment (which was identified in the flyer provided by the salesman). The techs completed treatment the next day. So, which customer was given proper information, me or ***.?

I recently signed up for pest control treatment with Armor Pest Defense. They applied the first treatment in spring.
I was assured that their treatment was effective for Japanese Beetles by the sales person. Through this summer I have had an infestation of Japanese Beetles. I called the customer service for Armor Pest Defense, and was told by 2 different reps that yes, their sale people have been telling customers that they effectively treat Japanese Beetles, but they have since changed their policy and tell folks they are not licensed to treat Japanese Beetles since they are considered "ornamental". I requested cancellation of my contract due to the fact they did not live up to what they said. They said I would be penalized $100.00 due to early cancellation, and the fact that their treatment was ineffective was my tough luck. I believe a refund for my early cancellation in in order

Armor Pest Defense Response • Aug 02, 2019

We do apologize for the misunderstanding with the Japanese beetles. We did have some confusion with that but has since been addressed. We do understand our treatment was misrepresented and that was in no way your fault so we do agree you should not be charged an early cancellation fee. We have refunded that back onto your card. You will see that in 3 to 5 business days. We are so sorry for the inconvenience. If there is anything we can help you with, please let us know. Have a great day!

This company is full of false promises and below par service. Do not sign a contract with them. The technician was to spray the whole house and remove all webs and nest on the outside of the home and treat for mosquitoes. The house was only partially sprayed and none of the webs or nest were removed as promised. When I inquired about the mosquito treatment the technician stated they do not provide that service.
When attempting to sever ties with the company, they try to pull more money out of you with cancellation fees. I have disputed the charge with Amex and plan on ensuring I pay nothing more to this fraudulent company.

Haven’t seen bugs since I started with these guys. Would recommend.

Thank you for your comment and we're so glad to hear how happy you are with our service!

I had a door to door salesman quote me a 1 time price of $29. I received an email the next day of a continuous service charging me $109 every 3 months. I called next day to cancel(policy says you can cancel within 3 days) and they refuse cancellation without a $175 payment.

We apologize for any misunderstanding. We show that you signed a 12 month agreement with our company on 8/28/2018. We then show that you called on 11/15/2018 to cancel your account. If our records on your account are incorrect please do let us know. If there is anything we can help you with, please let us know. We appreciate your business and apologize for any miscommunication.

Customer Response • Jan 23, 2019

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: Although your records show I signed a 12 month agreement it is false. I signed a "1 time service" and I specifically asked the door to door salesman if this was a 1 time payment of $29 and he answered "Yes". When I receive the email the next day stating different I called the company immediately to resolve this issue with no regards. I have thus contacted them several times. After I called to cancel the last time they came out and sprayed the next day which I did not want or need.

I did everything in my power to resolve this, I followed steps in the email and contacted them the next day, I have phone records to prove it. I also sent a written cancellation notice but the company continues to bill me. I just want this to go away and stop billing me for services that I no longer want

Sincerely

One of Armors people came to my home and said he could git red of my pests out side and in side.I was not shore that I wanted to pay what he offered for the job. But we kept talking until he said that he would only charge one dolor to spray. I said OK some one later that day came and sprayed. I was told that some one would come by on A later date. But they did not tell me that they would spray again. But on September 12 A man came and sprayed out side. I was not home but my mother was he did not git the OK to spray. he just sprayed and when my mother asked him what he was doing he said he just spraying the front yard and he left and did not have her sign anything. When I got my bank statement I saw that 105.00 dollars was taking out of my account. I did not git A receipt via my e mail as they said said I would. So I did not know they wound spray again. I that it was just that one time I called up Armor and asked why I was charged for A spraying that I did not ask fore they said that was A follow up spray I told them that I did not want A another spraying and want my money back but they said that the spraying was already done and they will not give me back my money.

Armor Pest Defense Response • Oct 16, 2018

We apologize for the misunderstanding. We do show that you signed a 12 month agreement with us. We sent out a text message, phone call and email letting you know it was a recurring treatment. Before we came out to service your home on 9/27/2018 we did send notification that you were to be serviced, the technician was also able to service the full outside. The initial service is regularly $199 for just that treatment. Since he did discount it to $1 that means there is a cancellation fee of $198. We did wave that cancellation fee since you did pay for the quarterly service performed. If there is anything we can help you with, please let us know. Have a great day!

A representative of Armor Pest Defense came to my home and presented an offer for pest control services. The offer that was presented to me was $39 for the initial treatment, and $69 quarterly for a one year term. My husband and I inquired about cancelling the service if needed because we would possibly be moving soon. The representative informed us that we could transfer services to a new location, and that there would be no cancellation fee if we decided to end the services. I completed the sign up form electronically on a tablet, and was told a copy would be emailed to me. I did not view this contract email immediately upon receipt, however; upon viewing it found several glaring inaccuracies. The contract form emailed was not the form that was presented to me at sign up. The emailed form was a copy of a type written form, with my signature from the tablet copied onto it. Also, the form stated that services would cost $99 quarterly, and a $160 cancellation fee was added. I responded to the email sender with my concerns and stated that I wanted to postpone my next treatment until this price discrepancy was resolved. The respondent agreed to my request, yet there was a note left on my door a few days later stating that my home had indeed been treated.

Armor Pest Defense Response • Oct 15, 2018

We do apologize for the misunderstanding. The information on the ipad is the same thing that is emailed to you right after he submits the contract. We do send out a text message, phone call and email which states what the pricing is to clear up and misunderstanding before the contract does begin. We are showing that we have serviced your home twice. If we would be able to receive the quarterly payment for the service performed in September we would be willing to wave the cancellation fee for the miscommunication. Please let us know if this will be okay or if there is anything we can help you with. Have a great day!

Armor Pest Defense Response • Oct 15, 2018

I apologize looking through the notes on your account I do not see where you cancelled the appointment with us. Regularly the initial service is $199 for just that one spray but due to signing a 12 month agreement we are able to reduce that initial price. With all of the misunderstanding I have closed the account and credited the past due amount. No more billing or services will take place. Please let us know if there is anything we can help you with. Have a great day!

Was just about to sign up from a door salesman, when he insisted I give him my credit card number to hold our spot. He kept telling me he wouldn't charge till the service is done. Super sketchy. You don't need my credit card number before you even come out. I kept telling him I wasn't willing to do that until the service is done. Then to make it even more sketchy, his ride came to pick him up and parked down the street, and I watched our sales guy walk and get into the car and drive back by us. Very concerning. If you think it's okay to get people's credit card numbers before they even come out, you're wrong. That definitely ended your chances of getting my service, if you require credit card ahead of time. No way.

DONT DO IT. We just recently had the yard and play area treated. Kids were outside and told me there were wasps in there play area. I found 3 nests. My wife called to complain about the *** work performed and they told here well you just paid for 3 months so we can just keep that money and call it a cancelation fee. What the heck I'll be definatly going back to my previous pest control company as soon as I can.

Awesome service, and the technicians were super nice!

3 employees were canvassing my neighborhood today. The one that approached us claimed he had many of our neighbors signed up - a lie. He also told us that the company has been in business for 30 years - a lie. He said that wolf spiders are highly poisonous - a lie. Additionally, he tried to tell me that there was no way his chemicals could harm my show chinchillas and chickens. Both animals are sensitive to chemicals in their environment, much more so than a dog or cat. He had no idea what he was talking about and tried to tell me I was wrong. He still tried to push his service even after I told him I would not take that chance with with my animals. I told him "NO" 4 times before he finally got the message. He was pushy and lied about just about everything.

Here's the pattern of slime. The sales person will tell you they can spray everything for $149, but, "such a deal I have for you; today only it will be $49, and your neighbors already signed up" (lie - I checked). If you make the mistake of saying yes, and AFTER you give them all your info and credit card number, they will tell you they need to come back three months from now for $169, and then quarterly, and there is a one-year contract that will cost you $169 to get out of. If you ask (as I did throughout the price), what's the annual cost, you won't get an answer.
If you call within an hour of the sales person, Drew, leaving - before the exterminator even come the first time - and tell them to cancel, Kaitland will tell you only Drew, the sales person can cancel the account. Drew will then show back up at your house uninvited and harass you until you simply have to shut the door. Then, 30 minutes or so later, the exterminator will show up smiling and ready to still spray the house as if none of the above had transpired!
After you call the office to complain, Kaitland will blame the sales person and say, "I'm so sorry, that's absolutely slimey and not acceptable. I will make sure Drew's manager knows about this." All very contrite, except, please note that this same pattern of slimey behavior has been showing up on Yelp for over three years, and the manager always responds that it they will correct the behavior of the sales person.
This isn't a "sales person" problem. This is an intentional, ongoing pattern of classic slimey door2door harassment that has been going on for years. BLAMING THE SALESPERSON AND APOLOGIZING IS A TACTIC TO KEEP YOU FROM POSTING BAD THINGS ABOUT THE COMPANY. "We're not the problem, it was that bad sales person." Except nothing ever changes and they've been training all the sales people the same way for years, and then blaming them - see all the manager's responses in other reviews - "We'll talk to that sales person".
The company is slimey, not the sale people. Caveat emptor.
