Disclaimer: If you're not into long stories (it's positive), then here's a synopsis:
Arnett's provided exceptional customer service, an outstanding product, and their owner/operator, Erik, is genuine and honest in an arena where prices and plans can be all over the map. Understanding that cost is a factor for many in this world, Arnett's offers extremely reasonable pricing and their ability to accommodate customers' schedules is terrific. In summary, finding a company that provides skilled installation, candid and thorough explanation of the plans, communicates honestly, AND offers excellent value is a rarity. Combined with the ability to give business to a locally owned company (since 1993) makes it an even more fantastic experience. Thank you to Erik and company for everything. My wife and I are grateful for our hot water! : )
(Long story): Although belated by about 1 week (due to being out of town), I wanted to take a moment to express my true appreciation and outstanding experience with Arnett's Water Systems before any more time elapsed. Unfortunately, being a new home owner often means that you are situated with a water heater that is rather unfamiliar in longevity, usage, and maintenance, and I was no exception to the joy of inheriting appliances that may have reached the end of their road.
About 9 days ago, on a Sunday morning, I woke to find that my drain pan sitting under the water heater was filling up rather nicely, and noticed a small pond developing under the supportive base in my garage. It wasn't good. With 6 plumbing visits I had the same diagnosis, essentially, and to an almost verbatim tune I was told, "oh man, this thing is done."
It was fairly apparent that this appliance had indeed reached the end. Therefore, most everyone I met started to discuss tankless systems with me because they are green (saving the environment, which is awesome), they tend to last longer, and for most people, they provide that wonderful bonus of steady and nearly limitless hot water. Everyone gave the rundown of their products, Navien, Noritz, and Rinnai, and I received quotes all over the map, some just out of this world when compared with others. I almost went with one company, almost....
However, I am a consumer that does my homework, and the beauty with that is you may catch folks in misrepresenting the product to be installed. I was told that I would receive the specs of a Noritz 50 gallon (EZ 98 or 50 gal series) replacement, which includes a 25 year warranty (HUGE), as well as greater capacity, output, and all the bells and whistles; HOWEVER, on multiple occasions, I was provided these specs of the TR 50 with the model of the EZTR-40, which is still a good product, BUT comes with a 12 year warranty, not 25, and does not possess the output or durability of the Noritz TR50/EZ98 series. This unfortunately rubbed me the wrong way, so I cancelled the appointment I set up with one of the other folks (nice people, but felt like I got the bait & switch).
By this time it's Tuesday and I'm jumping into the ocean for a shower since I hadn't taken a warm one in 3 days, and so it was back to the drawing board, which is how I found Arnett's and Erik. As the educated consumer, I went to the Noritz site direct, found the model that had a longer lifetime, typed in my location, and the website kicked back a listing of certified installers for their product, which is when I found Arnett's. I did a quick review and noted that they had solid reviews from online. Additionally, as a bonus, they were about a mile from my house and when I called, the owner, Erik, answered, and after telling him my sob story, came over in a fairly expeditious fashion to check out the dead water heater. Essentially, he had the same diagnosis as the others "done." What I appreciated about Erik, besides being completely professional and courteous, was that he took the time to listen and didn't try to up sell me. He recommended the EZTR 40 gallon (the one that was misrepresented from the outset by others) because that's what he felt I needed, BUT, he clearly stated that it had a 12 year warranty didn't make a push for the model that had the greater life, AND his prices were extremely reasonable. Additionally, since I was making the investment and switch to tankless, I actually wanted the EZ98/EZTR 50 (same model) because it lasted longer and his pricing was just a fraction more than the folks trying to sell me the smaller Noritz! So all in all, I received an outstanding, long lasting product, from someone that was up front, truly honest, and not pushing a more advanced product for the upsell. With all of that said, Erik and Arnett's had my business.
The next morning, two very pleasant gentlemen showed up 10 minutes early, got to work right away, and in 2.5 hours I had a beautiful system set up in my garage, had the old water heater taken away, and experienced the bless of endless hot water that afternoon. Thank you so much to Erik and Arnett's!

Time for a tankless water heater. I asked friends through Facebook and asked my neighbors directly. I got more than a half-dozen responses with a company referred and it was Arnett's every time. I spoke with Erik Arnett on the phone and he came to the house within a couple hours. He came through with a bid that was fully 33% less than my lowest offer from other vendors. All work was done, while I was away at work, cleanly and professionally. Came home to a cleaned up space housing a gorgeous new tankless water heater with a 25-year warranty. Works like a charm. I wholeheartedly recommend Arnett's.
Great service! These guys get it. Very fast and efficient. they saved me a ton of cash; as they identified that my problem was much smaller than what I thought.
The guy that came out was a real expert and was very professional and courteous. I send everyone I can his way!
I called Eric A to replace my failed 40 gals water heater. Eric quoted me $2,600 over the phone for a tankless *** direct retrofit system. I mentioned to him that all the hook-ups are in place including the electrical outlet. The old water heater was already removed. He showed up right on time and was professional and courteous.
My complaint has to do with pricing: he spent exactly 1h20min to install the unit.
Assuming ~$1,200 the cost of the water heater, this leaves $1,400 for labor.
THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EXPLANATION FOR SOMEONE CHARGING YOU OVER $1,000 PER HOUR FOR PLUMBING WORK! NONE! THIS IS A TOTAL RIP-OFF!
I'm not asking for my money back since we agreed over the phone. I just want other people to know that this company is a rip-off.
The high installation costs are usually due to extensive labor required to install a tankless water heater: gas line upgrades, electrical line, new vents, etc... It could take up to 6 hours...
However, these new *** easy retrofit units are a breeze to install and the installation costs are much lower. Unfortunately, I didn't know that before calling Eric A and I was taken advantage off... Lesson learned...
