 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
I am very disappointed about the
clinic’s reply letter. As a dentist, how can make false statements?
In the letter, it said that we did
not ask for only a cleaning. I did tell the clinic my son come for teeth
cleaning only. I strongly request the clinic to provide Revdex.com a copy of History
Health Form I filled when we visited the clinic. On the form, I wrote teeth cleaning
for the reason why my son came for dental visit today. This can clearly show
what I request is teeth cleaning not any other treatments. In addition, the
clinic did not ask me to bring my son’s current films from previous dentist.
I know the limitation of my dental
plan and I also know the teeth cleaning is covered 100% by insurance. But I did
not know what the dentist had done to my son until I received the bill! That is
the reason why “Services were not disputed until the parent received a statement
from our office for the co-pay of uncovered procedures.” If they told me they
would do other stuff besides teeth cleaning on service day (6/14/17), I would
have stopped them from doing these extra stuff, otherwise I would have gone to
other clinics.
In fact, I called the clinic to
point out it is not my responsibility to pay for the service I didn’t request
after I received the first statement on 7/1/17. However, about one month later,
they sent me second statement. Then I send them a certified letter which was
delivered on 8/28/2017 (See attachment 1). How can they say “Once the balance
reached over 90 days past due, the father wished to dispute the charges”?  In addition, the first statement date was
6/29/2017(See attachment 2). Obviously, the account is not 90 days overdue even
including today (9/26/2017).
In summary,
it is clear what I request is teeth cleaning only. The clinic did extra service
without my consent. Therefore, it is not my responsibility to pay for the
service I didn’t request.
Regards,

This patient came to our practice as a new patient for a check up which always includes a visual examination, prophylaxis(cleaning), radiographs, and a fluoride treatment. At the time of the visit, there were no disputes to the initial treatment from the parents of the patient. They...

expressed appreciation for getting their child seen, in a timely fashion. Services were not disputed until the parent received a statement from our office for the co-pay of uncovered procedures.  Once the balance reached over 90 days past due the father wished to dispute the charges.  It is a patient's right to  dispute any treatment before time of service for the child,  it would have been noted, and we would have explained the necessity for the exam, x-rays and fluoride treatment. It is our duty to provide the information and services that are best for our patients, but if the patient refuses we reserve the right to have patients seek services elsewhere.  The family's dental insurance plan has unusual limitations for coverage for preventive services and we can only bill a member the amount as per their contract with their dental insurance company.  As noted in our financial policy, "Since the contract is between the dental insurance company and the member, the member should be aware of the limitations of their plan and financially responsible if not covered by their plan."  We are the third party and are only doing what we are permitted to do, and customarily do.  We did not do anything extra as the patient's father noted.  Dr. Rosenberg has been servicing the Bucks County community for over 35 years as a general dentist and a proud practitioner who seeks to be mindful of protecting patient autonomy while balancing the importance of overall dental health and lifelong consequences.  We are dedicated to promoting the highest ethical and professional standards in the provision of dental car for all of our patients.  The standard of care in the case of a new patient who wishes to see quality oral health care is a comprehensive oral examination and dental radiographs (as a diagnostic tool to help rule out dental disease, infections and growths).  Radiographs are only taken if a new patient does not come in with current films from their previous dentist.  We are not willing to compromise the oral health of our patients.  We value all individuals who seek care at our office.  In the above named child's case, Mr. and Mrs. were asked to provide records from their previous dentist but did not bring them at the time of initial visit.  Therefore, it is not in the patient's interest for our caring team to overlook the possibility of disease.  State laws and and regulations set specific requirements to provide quality oral health care for all individuals who wish to seek out treatment. There was no such wrongdoing found with the provider of service of the billing department. We are willing to settle by waiving the late fees from the account. The current amount due is $153.00. Because the account is over 90 days past due a late charge in the amount of $30 was applied. We are willing to waive this fee if the payment of $123.00 is paid immediately if not, we have no option but to send this account to our collection service.Regards. Yvonne T. Billing Coordinator
