Arnold's Convenient Mart

On November 14, 2014, I entered the store to purchase some gas and snuff. The total amount of my purchase was $15.00. As I swiped my debit card, the store's machine had a paper jam and it did not produce a paper receipt for me to sign. In the meantime, I am told by the store clerk that the transaction would not go through and that he had cancelled it, unfortunately, it did not cancel and charged my card the $15.00.Next, the store clerk said "You will need to swipe your card again", I did, but I asked, did you cancel the last transaction. He stated he did. So I swiped again and did not have enough money on my card for the transaction and had to add $2.80 to the cost of $12.20 which would total $15.00.This store clerk became irrational and called me names and said that he did not want me back in his store again and he threathened me to not show my face again in this area. He told me that it's my kind that always start trouble....by the way, I am African American. So it seems that he is biased to a certain group of people.I would like to get my $15.00 back and maybe this store should hire people with better customer relations skills.Desired SettlementI would like for this store to refund my $15.00 and hire people with better customer relation skills.Business Response I'm the owner of Arnold's Convenient Mart, I interviewed Ms. [redacted] over phone on November 19th at approximate 11:30 am. I wanted to hear her side of the story and wanted to ensure her that we will resolve this problem immediately. She said to me, that she was double charged but her bank was waiting for verification. I mentioned to her that, that all I need is a statement showing proof that Arnold's doubled charged by accident because printer paper ran out and we would immediately refund her the $15.According to the clerk, Ms [redacted] has been in the store numerous times and is always complaining about prices and service. "She wants something for nothing". After interviewing the clerk and Ms. [redacted], I am very disappointed that she tried to play the race card in her complaint. NO RACIAL WORDS WERE EVER SPOKEN. The clerk has a granddaughter that is 1/2 blackand he loves her dearly and would never ever bring that issue up. We at Arnold's, pride ourselves on providing great customer service, and if there ever is a problem, I want correct that problem quickly and correctly. Consumer Response In response to the owner of Arnold's Convenient, I am not surprised at the response at all. I am a Christian woman and I refuse to be treated with disrespect and dishonor by anyone. Arnold's store clerk definitely told me to not show my face at his store anymore (afterall, no one was in the store but he and I and the cameras don't pick up sound) and that I was a trouble maker. All I wanted the store clerk to do was refund my $15.00 back to me. He said words he should not have and I WILL NOT BACK DOWN, HE SAID TO ME THAT MY KIND ALWAYS STARTS TROUBLE. I do not freguent this store, believe me, and I will not patronize anyone who thinks that I am a troublemaker. I REFUSE TO GIVE THIS STORE ANYMORE OF MY BUSINESS. ALL I AM REQUESTING THAT ARNOLD'S RETURN MY $15.00. I am waiting for my bank statement and once I receive it, I will forward a copy to the store. Afterwards, I AM EXPECTING TO RECEIVE A CHECK OR A MONEY ORDER IN THE AMOUNT OF $15.00 SENT TO ME IN THE MAIL.I do not trust this store owner and his employees anymore. The refund check of $15.00 was written and sent back to her on 12/4/14.
