I gave Mr [redacted] a written estimate in July but due to a very tedious and lengthy process by his home association we weren't sure the project was doable until late summer He then asked if his son and some friends could do the deck demolition, removal, and hall awayHe also made changes to some of the railing postsI told him we would have to sign a new agreement to reflect the changesHe asked me to start as soon as possible and that he would sign the contract and give me the required 1/down payment when we began the job I agreed because I have done many large projects with of his family members He signed the contract on Sept 27th but didn't give me a deposit until Oct 11thThen it was only for 1/of what was owedAfter another week of work I received another check but still wasn't the full 1/down payment The project was completed on Nov 4th but he had me out several times in the following weeks for trivial thingsHe finally admitted to me (in his own words) that he was going to "knit pick" and delay payment unless I gave him a discount I told him that I didn't charge him for a change that he made in materials that were special order, cause delay in the project, and cost more, but he refused to write a check unless he got another discount I did so, reluctantly, to get most of the contracted amount In January, after a bad ice storm, he called and said he had a small leak between the porch roof and his houseSince the porch roof had been through many rain storms and had not leaked I told him it may be due to ice damming because his house has very little pitch and the shingles are subject to itWe have had a lot of rain after the ice storm but he never complained of another leak until now, when he wants us to come and clean his property We made every attempt to remove our 'construction debri'We vacuumed the screen porch, hand wiped the railing, and scoured the area around his house We were not responsible for the demolition debri left by his sonAlthough we did clean it up It has been about months since we were on his property I have no idea who has been there or what has been done to the property in that timeI feel he is being unreasonable to expect that we should clean up his property from a project that we completed on Nov4th,

I gave Mr. [redacted] a written estimate in July but due to a very tedious and lengthy process by his home association we weren't sure the project was doable until late summer.  He then asked if his son and some friends could do the deck demolition, removal, and hall away. He also made...

changes to some of the railing posts. I told him we would have to sign a new agreement to reflect the changes. He asked me to start as soon as possible and that he would sign the contract and give me the required 1/3 down payment when we began the job.  I agreed because I have done many large projects with 3 of his family members.  He signed the contract on Sept 27th but didn't give me a deposit until Oct 11th. Then it was only for 1/2 of what was owed. After another week of work I received another check but still wasn't the full 1/3 down payment.  The project was completed on Nov 4th but he had me out several times in the following weeks for trivial things. He finally admitted to me (in his own words) that he was going to "knit pick" and delay payment unless I gave him a discount.  I told him that I didn't charge him for a change that he made in materials that were special order, cause delay in the project, and cost more, but he refused to write a check unless he got another discount.  I did so, reluctantly, to get most of the contracted amount.  In January, after a bad ice storm, he called and said he had a small leak between the porch roof and his house. Since the porch roof had been through many rain storms and had not leaked I told him it may be due to ice damming because his house has very little pitch and the shingles are subject to it. We have had a lot of rain after the ice storm but he never complained of another leak until now, when he wants us to come and clean his property.  We made every attempt to remove our 'construction debri'. We vacuumed the screen porch, hand wiped the railing, and scoured the area around his house.  We were not responsible for the demolition debri left by his son. Although we did clean it up.  It has been about 6 months since we were on his property.  I have no idea who has been there or what has been done to the property in that time. I feel he is being unreasonable to expect that we should clean up his property from a project that we completed on Nov. 4th, 2016.
