Initial Business Response /* (1000, 10, 2014/09/17) */
We made an appointment for the 14th to replace cooling fan on a continental for a OVER HEATING issueReplace one cooling fan, an found out the other cooling fan was bad as wellWe called the customer to inform him that we needed to
replace the other fan, left message on his phone stating that it would be mid morning the next day which would be Friday the 15thDuring that evening of the 14th I the owner was out driving around the lake in my dune buggy an seen said car being removed from the parking lotI figured this was fine because we have customers pick cars up after hoursWhen I returned to work the next morning the car was back in the parking lot in a different placeI asked *** the secretary why it was backShe stated that she didn't know how or why the car was moved because we still had the keys inside the officeWe replaced the other cooling fan, and after completing the job *** the tech working on the car said there was a broken
piece on the upper left side of the radiator and didn't know if he had broke it or if it was that way to start with because there was no coolant spilled from the radiator after replacing the cooling fansI the owner had left for the day an didn't return till laterLater (MONDAY) I was asked what should be doneI asked if we had broke the radiator or it was like that, an with not noticing a leak before figured we may have broke itOn Friday the 15th *** called the customer, left message on phone that the car was not ready, and had left it in the shop so it could not be taken again with the condition it was in*** then called again Satmorning to let the costumer know what was going on with the car told him it seemed to be the radiator but was not 100% sure at the time and would know more about it Monday morning, and that we would let him know, he said ok an appreciated *** calling him on her day offA short time later Dan called *** back,
stated they knew what was wrong with the radiator and for us not to worry about it that they have dealt with this problem before*** stated that she was not sure exactly what the problem was and would discuss with the techs Monday to know for sureMonday morning I was told what was going on with the car and was told the radiator had a piece broke on itI asked if we had done it or not an no one was sure, so I told *** to see about a radiator for it, see if we could get one from salvage yard or if it had to be newMid morning Monday *** and *** come to the shop to see about the car*** showed them the part that was broke*** an *** decided they would fix it themselves and left with the car*** said he had put one gallon of coolant and one gallon of water into the radiator to fill it back upThat is when he noticed the broken piece on the radiatorA few days later, not exactly sure, we received a call about the fans not working,
told them to bring it by we would check it outFound it had a bad fuse replaced it without a charge and they leftI can only recall the car coming back the one time which was when we replaced the cooling fan fuse*** had started working for us an was driving the car to the shop dailyOne morning she had it towed up here said it wouldn't startThe battery was completely deadI put the charger on it for about an hour an when we tried to start it, it was pushing coolant out of the pressure capI was informed that we needed to replace the motor or buy the car as we were the ones that messed up the head gasketsI told Dan that I would not repair or place the engine because it left my shop without having the radiator fixedTHE CAR WAS BROUGHT TO MY SHOP WITH AN OVERHEATING ISSUETHE FANS WERE NOT WORKING WHEN THE CAR WAS BROUGHT INTHE WAY I FEEL IS THAT IT HAS HAD AN ISSUE OF OVERHEATING BEFORE IT CAME TO MY SHOP, AND IF NICK & CORINA HAD NOT
TAKEN THE CAR WE WOULD HAVE FOUND A RADIATOR FOR THE CAR AND REPLACED IT FOR THEM WITHOUT ANY CHARGE, BUT SINCE THEY TOOK IT OFF MY PARKING LOT WITH A BROKEN RADIATOR I DONT FEEL RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BLOWN HEAD GASKETSIF ANYMORE INFORMATION IS NEEDED PLEASE CALL ME AT ***
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 12, 2014/09/18) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The only reason the car was overheating was because the broken fans, the day I recived the car back I was told and still was told until now they would not fix the radiatorSo I took the car back, the fans where never fixed, and still to this day is not fixedThe car overheated because the fans did not work after they said it was fixed timesI ended up fixing the radiator temporary after they refused to fix it the car did not overheat and blow a head because of radiator, but because the fans never got fixedI feel it is their fault because they neglected to do they job I paid them to do then released it back to me after charging me first telling me it was fixed and ok to drive
Final Consumer Response /* (3000, 15, 2014/09/18) */
The fans never got fixed after being told they where fixed three different timesThey refused to fix the radiator forcing me to go to napa auto parts to buy the radiator repair kitThe Second time I took the car back to them I showed them the radiator they broke and me and *** fixed, they told me the repair job was great and hired *** for a job, I told them they still needed to fix the fans and radiator they refused to fix the radiator and replaced the blown fuss to the fan, I drove the car homeThe next day I drove the car and it overheated and noticed the fuse was blown I replaced it it blew again instantlyI had *** take the car back to them the next day to fix the fans since she worked there and I had to work, when I got home I saw the car I asked if the car was fixed she said only one fan was hooked up, I asked why only one fan was working I paid for bothThe car never should have been released to *** that day as she was not the owner nor where the fans wirking, and they knew that they where not wirkingI feel it is their fualt because if they would have fixed the fans like I payed them to do the head would never have blowThey released the car back to *** their employee, knowing only one fan was hooked up
Final Business Response /* (4000, 22, 2014/09/23) */
As to the tech that was working on the car WAS NOT FIRED he went back to his old job repairing boatsSeems there is a lot of misconception going on as to how I run my businessI feel we go above an beyond when it comes to our customers satisfactionIf the owner of the car would have left it here so we could replace the radiator, then things may not have come to thisThe main point of this is the car had a heating problem, how long of a heating problem before it was brought to my shop is unknown to meAnd when it comes to auto repair, as with anything, things can changeWe try to the best of our abilities to have customers cars back to them when we say but things do happen and can not do thisWhen cars are done and ready for pick up the customer is called and arrangements are made for after hours pick upWith the after hours pick up the keys are placed in a spot the customer prefersWith saying the car would be done that day we will call the customer to let them know what is going on, when something does happen and we cannot finish vehicle we do not leave keys in designated area giving the customer the idea something must of changed
