I went to this business to have my car inspected on 12/9/13 and paid $29 to receive a rejection sticker. I made the necessary repairs to my vehicle and returned on 2/8/14 and received a passing [redacted] but was again charged $29 which is in violation of stated policy with MA DMV. The owner also refused to accept a credit card payment for the 2nd visit when he has done so at least 10-15 times previously. After the 60 days is up, in which mass dot goes by the second u were here the customer when then have to repay another inspection fee of $29! This customer was over on tbe 60 days seeing that december and january both have 31 days in them! Also per the mass dot the inspection sticker would go back to its orignaly date not the date they came back in after the repairs! Wheb a new yesr arises in this situaion it goes to the 1st of this year which would ba a january sticker! Both of these laws are enforced by the. Registry of motor vehicles and the choice is not up to the station!Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)The business may have been in compliance with the state regulations but could have been more flexible in enforcing the regulations which they were not. I was over the 60 days by 1 day only because Dec and Jan are Long months. Also the station owner would not accept a credit card payment which he HAS done on at least 10 previous occasions leading me to believe that he did NOT report this fee to the Registry of MV and instead kept it for himself. I will not use this business in the future and am dissatisfied with their business practices.Final Business Response The registry of motor vehicles automaticly charges the busniess for every sticker printed. If it is over the 60 days we are required by the registry of motor vehicles to charge the customer a additional fee of $29. We acutlly pay for the incpection before we recieve the money from the customer.Once the sticker is printed and scanned by the bar code it is autom,aticly reported to the registry of motor vehicles for that specific vehicle. I wish we could have been more felxible with the time frame, but that is the way the registry of motor vehilces runs the program. They give you 60 days to repair the vehilce and not a minute more. The registry of motor vehicles feels that 60 days is sufficint time frame to get the vehicle repaired. The credit card payment thing I cant understand we accept credit cards, cash, or check. We have never refused to take a credit card payment before so I am missing something. Are you sure ur at the right busniess? Like is aid in my previous response we are located at 123 east st. Not the 483 W. Housatanic St you have put above? I aplogize for your inconvience and understtand your frustration. But we have to follow the registry of motor vehicle rules.
