Review: We contracted with Doug *. W[redacted] to design a home conversion from a bakery at cost of $6,000.After completion, Doug offered to be the contractor. He presented a bid of $169,000. We informed him our budget was 120,000. We were going to seek other bids, but he said he would do it for 120k...We made several design concessions to help him fit in our budget. We spent extra money to speed up the permits to start asap.Paid contractor 11/26/13 $86,500, 3/5/14 $33,500 for total of $120,000. Nov. 26 payment consisted of one check, $39,200 payable to W[redacted] Code Blueprint Construction and 5 checks totaling $47,300 made out to Douglas W[redacted], each for under $10,000.Original start date was Dec. 6, 2013 with finish date at end of March with move in date April 15.no work was started until Feb. 1. Met Doug who assured us finish date mid June, insisting everything was on schedule.Met Doug in mid June. he said Aug 1 completion date. Met Doug beginning July and he asked for extension to Aug. 19. .Aug 19,met Doug, gave him final notice. He agreed with letter of intent to be finished by Sept 30 with possibility of week earlier. We asked him on several occasions what the probem is and he has not been forthcoming with any information. We have asked him for schedules which his supervisor has refused to follow. His supervisor leaves several times a day leaving inexperienced men without guidance. At this time we are still probably 50 %away from completion with promised supplies still not on sight. Air conditioning, water heater, kitchen cabinets supposedly ordered with excuses for no delivery.Things to complete: painting, flooring, kitchen cabinets, appliances, toilets, sinks, heating, a/c, front steps, stucco walls outside, back entrance, electricity, windows, moldings, light fixtures and fans, doors to rooms and closets. I am sure many other details.Work hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with lunch this works out to 5.5 hour workdays. We are at a loss as to what to do. Help us please!!Desired Settlement: I will be requesting an accounting of monies spent and a reconciliation of sorts. I will be terminating this companies involvement at the construction site, because of their failure to deliver completed services. This could be settled if the construction were to be completed on a schedule but the company "dose not believe in schedules".
