Review: On March **,2013 I gave Mr. [redacted] a down payment to renovate my bathroom. The final payment was made on April *,2013 and didn't include plumbing. As the customer I was responsible for buying the toilet and vanity, light fixture above vanity. I also requested a 6 foot bath tub which I paid 1,000 dollars for but didn't receive a reciept. A week after the completion of the bathroom I called Mr.[redacted] and complained window sill not aligning properly, tile in doorway uneven, doorway wood work uneven, cracking of grout by bathtub. Mr. [redacted]. came to the house and listed all my complaints. he then informed me he could not take care of it immediately. he was attending a workshop in California. I waited for Mr.[redacted] to contact me but to no avail. Finally receive a phone call from Mr [redacted]. stating he hurt his back. Contacted Mr. [redacted]. May ** asked him when he would fix my bathroom. He apologized profusely and stated he would come on June *,2013. When I called to confirm on his cell phone and his home phone I received no answer. I finally called his father and was told he would not be able to come. He was working in Manhattan. I explained to his father my sister felt I had over paid for the work. He said that he would make an apppointment with me for his son to come over to make the necessary repairs. I explained I still didn't receive a paid in full receipt. I also stated I didn't receive receipt for the $1,000 for the six foot bath tub. On June *,2013 Mr.[redacted] Senior called to make an app't. I stated Friday after 3:30 would be fine. He agreed that would be fine.On June 9,a a Female individual who didn'r identify herself called my daughter staing she worked for Mr. [redacted] . She stated I was be unreasonable and combative. Mr. [redacted]. called my daughter stating he was unable to reach me.He caled at 3:00, 3:03, 3:05 3:19, 3:21 on my cell phone. He finally contacted me at 3:21 stating that I had a mental problem. He asked if my sister was a general contractor. Who was she to judge his price?Desired Settlement: He told me that I should be availble Sat or Sunday to make the repairs or take a day off from work. His yelling on the phone and arrogance was extremely unprofessional. I paid this individual in full for a service he didn't completely deliver. I don't want this individual calling or coming near my house. . I want another contractor to fix the problems he left behind. I can forward pictures of my bathroom. Mr. [redacted] should be responsible for paying for this.

Response:

Mrs. [redacted] originally received an estimate of $13,500 for her bathroom renovation - this did not include plumbing and fixtures. She was originally told that the job would take between 10 to 14 days. When she told us that she only had one week off from work, I told her that we would do the job in the time she had.

Mrs. [redacted] informed me that she was having trouble finding a 6 foot tub. I did the research and found the tub at a plumbing supply warehouse. I then picked up the tub on my own time at no extra cost to the homeowner.

At the end of the first day, Mrs. [redacted] made her first complaint about the price, adding that she was having other work done ( i.e. roofing, siding, gutters, etc.) and that she wasn't made of money. After careful consideration, I took $1000 of the price. Also to keep costs down, I re-installed her toilet every night before leaving to avoid the cost of an outdoor toilet rental.

I worked diligently from March 25th straight through to April 1st, including a full day on Easter Sunday, to accommodate her schedule.

What Mrs. [redacted] neglected to mention in her letter is that after her initial complaint, about 2 chipped tiles, missing caulking, and an uneven tile near the bathroom entrance, I did return and spent 4 hours fixing all of the issues to her satisfaction.

A few weeks went by and I received another call with more complaints. I returned her call and made an appointment to look at the new issues that she had.She then called me back 10 minutes later ,very agitated, asking why I had not returned her call. When I informed her that we had just spoke, she angrily replied that we had not spoken. After explaining the prior conversation, she finally calmed down and apologized for not remembering.

I went to Mrs. [redacted]'s house to look at the new problems, which now included an uneven piece of 1/4 round moulding under the window sill, minimal grout cracking around the tub, and paint not covering. I agreed that these things needed to be addressed, even though the walls were primed with a sealer and given two coats of paint, and that we would schedule a time to come back and take care of the problems.

In the interim, I injured my back and had to take 3 weeks off from physical labor.Mrs. [redacted] said she understood and that I should call her when I was able to return.

Two weeks passed ad I received another call from Mrs. [redacted]. She was very agitated and said 1-she thought it was ridiculous that she had waited this long, 2- where was her paid in full bill and 3- where was the receipt for her tub. She went on to tell me that her sister-in-law said she overpaid and that she had just written checks to other people for work she had done.

In answer to these questions: She absolutely received a paid in full bill when she made the final payment, it was initialed by myself and Mrs [redacted].

A copy of the tub receipt in the amount of $1090.29 has been sent since receiving the Revdex.com complaint.

I asked Mrs [redacted] if her sister-in-law was a professional contractor and if she could see through walls due to the fact that much of the work that needed to be done was structural and not cosmetic. I also asked what her paying other people for other work had to do with me. She did not answer these questions.

I never, at any time or in any way, said Mrs. [redacted] had mental problems. I said she has memory problems.

In conclusion, I agree that the last three issues regarding the finished job need to be addressed, but due to the homeowners angry, insulting, and uncooperative nature, I will not be returning to her home. I told her this in the last conversation we had. I stand behind my work 100%. Mrs. [redacted] should get estimates for the work needed. I am more then willing to reimburse her for a reasonable dollar amount that we can both agree on.

Response:

[redacted]:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Mr. [redacted] was well aware of the job's time schedule time schedule. He could have easily declined the job. This contractor claims he will cover the cost of another contractor as long as it is reasonable. First, of all he created these problems! The grout he used in the bathroom is cracking. The bathroom doorway has a uneven tile with grout that is cracking. the windowsill is uneven. I am perturbed at the fact that he has made stipulations, when he created the situation. Mr. [redacted] is great at giving lip service and no action!

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.
